"De-rek, how could you?"

"How could I what?"

"How could you forget to take out the trash this morning?"

Nora blinked, sipping her coffee and frowning at the TV. Is that Derek and Casey?

Oh god it actually is.

"George," she called out to her husband, "I think you should see this."

-0-

"-unsanitary, okay? Next thing you know there will be flies buzzing around our trash can and maggots everywhere. Maggots, Derek, maggots. Not to mention that the garbage truck is not coming until next week."

An eye roll, "Why are you freaking out? It's just trash."

"J-just trash? I will have you know that this-"

"Are they seriously arguing on international television?" Marti rolled her eyes.

Nora shared an exasperated smile with her husband at their oldest children's' antics.

Robbie shrugged, "Well, if anyone can do it, it's Derek and Casey."

"-ditch me just because of some pretty blonde girl with a busty chest. My career depends on yours, you know."

"So you've told me the last thousand times you mentioned it. And why are you dragging Bea into this?"

"I am not dragging anyone into anything! I just like to remind you that this is not the first time this-"

"Lizzie," Edwin yawned, rubbing his eyes, "you know I like my sleep."

His step-sister ignored him, "Turn on your TV, set it to CNN."

"Why?" Edwin yawned.

"Because Derek and Casey are arguing live on international TV."

Edwin dived for the remote.

"-If you want to spend time with your girlfriend, you should just tell me."

"She's not my girlfriend!"

"Well, not according to my list?"

"What list?"

"The list to determine if someone's in a relationship."

"You have got to be kidding me."

"Karren, we have a problem."

Karren, the co-anchor of the news, sighed and answered without looking up from her notes.

"Yes, Venturi and McDonald are always like that. No, they are not together. Yes, there is an office betting pool about the two and you can join if you just ask Willams. Also, no, thankfully, they are not permanent anchors, they usually do articles on problems around the world."

Mike blinked, "...Thanks?"

"You're welcome."

"But that's not the problem."

At those words, Karren looked up sharply.

"What kind of problem?"

Mike winced like his next words were too painful to say, "Venturi and McDonald have been live for the past few minutes."

"You mean people all over the globe have to witness their little mating dance?"

Mike grimaced, "Yeah."

"Fuck."

"For the last time, Bea is not my girlfriend."

"Then why are you spending so much time with her?"

Silence.

"Because she was helping me to find that ancient typewriter you loved when we visited England for the populist piece we were doing a few weeks back."

"Oh."

Silence.

Karren rolled her eyes at the scene in front of her.

Oblivious idiots.

"Venturi, McDonald."

"Yeah," Casey stopped staring at Derek, "something wrong?"

"You both have been live for the past few minutes."

"WHAT?"
