Unrequited

His red, short hair shifted slightly as he sensed a familiar presence, jade eyes surrounded by black moving to the entrance of the small ramen shop he was in. His breathe caught as it seems to always do when he saw her. The princess, the soft hearted woman, and an angel in his eyes.

"Gaara! Anybody in there?" A loud raspy voice came from his right.

He directed his gaze at the person the voice belonged to, leveling a glare at the person. The person raised one of his tan hands to blond, spiky hair rubbing the back of it in a seemingly embarrassed manner; his eyelids closed covering his sapphire colored eyes, and grinned at Gaara, his grin almost touching the whisker marks on his face. A habit of his that Gaara quickly found out meant that he was either nervous or apologetic or insecure.

"Hehe… sorry Gaara, didn't mean to annoy ya," the man said.

Gaara felt tempted to roll his eyes at the oblivious man before him but didn't and turned his gaze to the woman whose lavender eyes scanned the room. He was mesmerized by those eyes which showed everything she felt. Her eyes showed her shyness, her strength, and how her past had broken her and he loved it. He loved that he could tell what she was feeling, that he could possibly understand her through her painful past. He loved how her dark purple hair framed her soft angelic face making her seem even more fragile than before.

Gaara thought that if he ever could touch her outside of battle that she could break even though her capability to handle a hit in battle prove otherwise. It made him love her even more. In his eyes there wasn't even one imperfect about her. He longed for her, a feeling which seem to happen more and more often every time he saw her. He longed to press his lips against hers. To run his hands against her beautiful porcelain skin. To see her look at him in adoration as she was doing right now to the blond next to him. The blond who just noticed her presence.

"Hinata!" He called, waving at her in a hyper almost frantic way.

She smiled a breath taking smile before heading their way. She was about three feet away the blonde jumped up and hugged her to him tightly, kissing her in the same motion, causing jealously to shoot through Gaara's veins like fire. He looked away from the sight of the couple. It only reminded him that he would ever have the privilege to do such to her. His love for her would always be unrequited.

"H-hi Naruto, hi Gaara," Hinata stuttered out softly.

Gaara gave her a soft smile which he would only give to her. He watched on as Hinata and Naruto sat down on two stools to his left. He barely listened to Naruto when he started up a new conversation. He kept his eyes on Hinata the whole time, watching every reaction she had to Naruto's conversation. His heart ached as he watched her. The conversation went on for what seemed to be an eternity.

Then Naruto yawned and said ", Man! I guess its about time to go home huh Hinata?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty tired myself, let's go."

They got up while Gaara stayed sitting.

"Hey Gaara aren't you ready to go home?" Naruto asked.

"I'm going to stay a bit longer," Gaara replied in his deep timbre.

" 'Kay. Goodnight."

Gaara nodded his head in response. As Naruto and Hinata walked by however, Hinata dropped a note onto his lap. He waited until they left to read the note. It said:

Stop concentrating on me and look around you. There is someone who loves you and I know if you took the time to get to know her you would fall for her harder then you did me.

And so he looked he did and saw…
