Perhaps I should begin by saying it was all an accident.
It wasn't entirely my fault, either. I mean, honestly. Have you ever seen the Weasley boys? They're walking accidents waiting to happen!
Not that I'm the kind to shirk responsibility because, yes, I am perfectly aware that I have done something—well, rather heinous, if you think about it. And, while it was an accident and did involve several other perpetrators, I did have a hand in it.
But that's the point, isn't it? It was unintentional. Completely unwitting…not that I'm the kind to admit to that, either. In fact, if ever there was something I could claim as my title it would be that of the know-it-all—at least, according to most people who've met me. I take that title with both resentment and pride. I like to know what's going on around me. And the fact that, in this particular instance, I most certainly did not know it all…well, I'd be amiss if I did not admit how terribly that smarts.
Maybe starting by refusing to acknowledge my mistake is not the most prudent choice. May I start again?
Ahem.
I, Hermione Jean Granger, have made a grievous error…
Author's Note: Yes, yes. I am perfectly aware that this is, in fact, a total fanfiction cliché. However! If truth be told, most subgenres start off as clichés. And the Timeturner Fic is quickly becoming just that—a bona fide subgenre. As such, I will not pretend to be sorry for taking my own foray into this—er, subgenre.
However (being that it is a subgenre in its own right) that pretty much means I have to take a completely different approach to the concept. After all, it's only a cliché if you follow the same plot lines. In this case, there will be unforeseen twists that I have felt many previous Timeturner Fanfiction writers have missed the opportunity upon which to capitalize. I hope ya'll enjoy this. :)
