Germany hated secrets. All the lies all to keep one measly fact just buried inside you. He despised that. But if Italy knew who he really was... Germany looked around the closet he always kept locked to any intruders. The closet contained past uniforms that were given to him, pictures of the younger German and his brother, a dusty old hat and a push broom.
He hadn't remembered up until a singular moment then the memories just came flowing back, every single one. In his dreams, all he could see was the young Italian. At first, he thought the younger Italy was a little girl. But after more and more dreams, he heard the 'girl's' voice and he could the Italian voice that always screamed at him for help.
He hadn't reached the conclusion that he was the Holy Roman Empire by himself, of course. He told Prussia of these dreams and his brother knew he had to tell Germany the truth. The only question Germany had on his mind was 'Why? Why would bruder keep this secret for so long?' All Prussia could reply was 'Because I thought the Holy Roman Empire was dead.'
Germany knew from then on , he could never tell Italy. Why? Because the Holy Roman Empire was dead. If Italy knew, all the German would be is a shell of the Holy Roman Empire. These insecurities ran through Germany's head almost every time he was with Italy.
Germany stared into space as he stood in the middle of the closet. That's why Germany locked it up because all it did was make him think too much.
"Germany?" Italy said behind him.
The German stayed silent and just leaned down and picked up the push broom.
"Are you okay, Germany?"Italy had a worried tone in his voice.
Germany turned toward Italy with the push broom and uttered these words, "We need to talk..."
That's why Germany hated secrets because revealing them is just a way to hurt the people you love.
