Comment: Shortly after posting my drabbles here, I
received a PM by somebody who playfully asked me if I could write
PataGato drabble. Now... there are two things to consider here: (1) I
have a hard time turning down requests. (2) Patamon isn't exactly my
number one favorite Digimon. Not sure what the exact reason for that
is, but I somehow never found him that interesting. So I did
the best I could... and wrote implied PataGato with my usual
"facepalm/snerk" humor, and threw in Hawkmon for good
measure. I think the result is quite okay, as long as you don't
expect 300 words of fluffy PataGato cuddling.
Hawkmon couldn't believe his eyes. "Talk about overkill..."
"He's just excited and trying to make their first date memorable," Veemon replied evenly.
"Veemon, Hawkmon!" Pegasusmon cheered as he came closer. The Digimon's mane was decorated with numerous bows and ribbons, and he had traded his armor for a glittering chariot.
God, it's so shiny, you might even be able to see it from space, Hawkmon thought, fighting the urge to whistle the tune of "Pimp my Ride".
"Hey, all ready for your date?" Veemon asked and smiled.
"Bit nervous, but yeah, I'm ready," the winged horse replied and returned the smile. "Thanks again for helping me with the mane, Veemon. I'm glad you're not mad that Gatomon chose me over you."
"It's cool. I'm happy for both of you." Veemon's smile faded just a little bit. "Anything for a friend."
"Maybe we should leave before Gatomon arrives," Hawkmon offered. And before this becomes even more like a bad "Twilight Zone" episode...
"Sounds good," Veemon agreed and waved at Pegasusmon. "Have fun!"
"Okay," Hawkmon hissed once they were far enough away, "what did you do?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Veemon replied a bit too innocently.
"Right. You absolutely didn't use your ultimate opportunity to thank Patamon not only for ruining your chances with Gatomon, but also for - maybe unconsciously - rubbing in his victory by asking you for help with his preparations."
Veemon merely smirked. "Let's just put it this way: Few forces in the universe are stronger than an Armor Digimon." He gave Hawkmon a meaningful look. "Superglue is one of them."
Hawkmon gasped. The bows and ribbons...
"Somewhat related... any way I could stay at your place until he calms down?" Veemon asked.
Now it was Hawkmon's turn to smirk. "Anything for a friend."
