The silence of the dimly lit precinct had gotten to the two remaining detectives. Every now and then you'd hear the ruffle of paper as the detectives flipped through their files. John Munch was the first to speak, breaking the silence.

"Do you have a pen?" he asked his colleague, who smiled and handed him a pen off her desk.

"Hey John?" Olivia said after a few more moments of peace.

"Yeah?" he said not bothering to look up from this work.

"Do you mind if I put the radio on?" It's too quiet in here" she told him.

"Sure. I guess" he said shrugging his shoulders. As soon as Olivia turned on the radio her favorite song had come on. "You and Me" by Lifehouse. John listened to the words of the music and found them to be hitting a little to close to home.

"I love this song" Olivia said, pulling John from his thoughts. Without thinking John was on his feet and walking towards Olivia. He stopped beside her and when she looked over at him, he stuck out his hand.

"Can I have this dance?" he asked, smiling.

"I'd love to" Olivia answered and placed her hand in John's. John pulled her up to her feet and into his arms.

Olivia's arms wrapped around his neck, and his hands went to her sides and slid down to her waist, where they rested. Together they swayed to the music, both enjoying each others company. Every once in a while John would twirl Olivia and then she would return to her spot in his arms and they would sway again. Neither of them noticing that the song had changed twice since this all started.

"You're a good dancer" Olivia said resting her head on his chest, taking in the smell of his cologne.

"I've had a lot of practice" John gulped, trying to regain his senses from Olivia being so close to him. The two danced for what seemed to be an eternity before Olivia spoke again.

"This is nice" Olivia said moving closer to John, if at all possible. John looked down at Olivia shocked.

"What?" Olivia mournfully moved from her very comfortable place, to look at John, never fully leaving his arms.

"What?" she looked at his questionably.

"What did you say?"

"I said I like this" she told him truthfully.

"You like this?" John asked gesturing between them.

Olivia sighed realizing where this was going. "John, I love spending time with you. You're sweet and kind and funny. You always know how to cheer me up and make me laugh. I love coming into work just to hear what conspiracy you've cooked up. I love being with you. I love you"

"You love me?" John asked, not believing what he had heard.

"Is that so unbelievable?" Olivia asked, backing away from John.

"Yes. You drive around all day with Elliot, who is obviously in love with you, yet here you are with me. I've been married more times then anyone should be and I don't want to hurt you. I'm no good for you Olivia. You should find a young man that will never hurt you."

"I don't love Elliot. I love you John. I've always loved you. I know you don't believe that you deserve happiness, because of your past. I don't want to be with anyone else, I want to be with you. You make me happy; you make the butterflies in my stomach flutter just when you sit beside me." Olivia said a tear slipping from her eye. Stepping forward John put his hand on her cheek and stroked her cheek, wiping away her tears. John ran his thumb across her lips, and then leaning forward he moved his hand through her hair before kissing her gently.

"I love you Olivia" John said firmly, once they pulled away. Olivia smiled and kissed John, this time more passionately. The two detectives stood their, each of them overwhelmed with happiness, while the soft music from the radio flowed through the precinct.
