"Dear Father, forgive me for I have sinned..."
The man trailed off into nothing. His words echoed into the dusty air of the silent church. The pews in front of him gleamed in the midnight moon. He looked around and quickly swallowed a choking breath before finishing off the rest of his sentence.
"I committed murder. I killed someone. Oh God please give me guidance."
His voice was barely discernable through his sobs. Clouds suddenly covered the moon, bathing him in a pool of temporary darkness.
"I never meant to... it's just... just… oh god… I raped his sister too. I just thought… it was might… right to… oh my god… please… help me…"
He sniffed burying his head into his arm.
"Someone… send me someone… anyone…"
Suddenly he paused, as he heard an almost silent click.
"Put your hands UP and SLOWLY turn around. We have you surrounded and if you resist we have the right to SHOOT."
Slowly, the man got up and walked out to the aisle with his hands up. Slowly, he turned around only to face a shot gun in the leering face of a mangled body. Slowly, the mangled body strolled up near the man.
"I…"
The man opened his mouth and he just stared, unable to speak, unable to move.
"Yes Hyun Joon? You what?" A slow grin transfixed itself onto whatever was left of his face.
Weakly he replied, "I killed you. You. You're supposed to be dead."
"Yes I know you did," A voice came from the corpse again. Another hand took the gun off the body and Hyun Joon slowly watched the corpse crumple on one of the seats.
The figure standing exactly where the dead body was was a young woman, scantily clad. Her eyes were red, and there were dried tears on her cheeks. She only wore a dirty t-shirt which showed off her figure nicely. Scratches and scars coated the skin of her neck and her arms and there was blood caked on her inner thighs. Despite this, she still looked very lovely.
"Why hello oppa."
"Mi... Mina…"
"No not quite." The same leering grin appeared on Mina's face.
No… thought Hyun Joon. This… isn't right.
His vision seemed to blur for a moment as he tried to get his head around the carcass on the church pew, and the young lady standing in front of him with a shotgun. Suddenly, his vision temporarily blacked and when it came back, Mina was no longer in front of him. Instead, his mother stood in front of him, wearing the very same t-shirt.
Repulsion, fear, confusion filled him as his head swam, and a parade of people slowly materialized in front of him.
"STOP! Just STOP."
"Stop?"
"Ji Hoon hyung. Please, just, please, make it stop."
Ji Hoon leaned in close to Hyun Joon's face.
"How about NO."
Hyun Joon cringed in repulsion, as the stinking breath of a body long dead filled his nostrils and his throat.
The limbs which he had been previously unable to move now suddenly gained a great burst of energy. Pushing the corpse out of his way, he tore out of the church. He heard the loud bang of a shotgun and the hysterical laughter of a roomful of maniacs but he ignored it and ran on.
He ran and ran. Ran until he could no longer tell whether he was dead or alive. Ran until he could no longer feel the cold hangs reach for his feet, his legs, or perhaps somewhere higher. Ran until he was sure his sins wouldn't catch up to him. He ran until he couldn't.
And then, just as he started to slow down, he glanced over his shoulder and didn't notice the oncoming truck.
Like an ant under a shoe, he was squashed out of existence. Cars skidded past and reversed. Faces filled with horror as they observed the human pancake.
But nobody noticed a corpse hobble out of the driver seat of the truck. But nobody noticed a lovely young woman get out of the other door to help him. But nobody noticed…
