A/N: Here's my next OTH drabble-y ficlet. It's about Peyton and it's based off an episode in Season 5, the one where Peyton finds out that Lucas and Lindsey are engaged and Brooke tries to get her to let go by tossing the book into the fire. It's inspired by a line out of Hamlet, oddly enough. Enjoy. R&R! Thanks! –Mac

Words, Words, Words, Words
Peyton sat with every copy of Lucas's novel she owned piled in front of her on her bed. The one copy that had made it into the fire had made her feel fractionally better. But could she part with the rest? Of that she wasn't sure.
She had come to terms with the fact that the book was just words. They sounded sweet and were so very eloquent, but still, they were just words. Words alone meant nothing, a person couldn't base themselves on nothing. She couldn't hold onto words that had no meaning.
But Peyton wanted to believe that these words did have meaning, they represented who they all were back then. Who she was back then. And she would do anything to hold onto that person for as long as possible.
Because that person had Lucas.
That person, that those words, words, words, words described so wonderfully, was who she wanted to be.
Peyton collected every copy of Lucas's novel she owned and placed them carefully in one of her dresser drawers. She could hide them away for now, but they would always be there.
