Chapter 1

Sheer Cold

Webster the Decidueye was an unusual Pokémon. Maybe the most unusual thing about him was that he had neither friends nor enemies among Pokémon. This story is about him, but you might not care.

Webster tried to live as best he could despite his problems. He was currently following his fondness for battling by being in the career of performing rescue missions. Rescue missions were a very popular career for Pokémon because it usually allowed them to travel the world and become heroes and to use their natural talent for battling since they often had to fight criminal Pokémon. The career's popularity was one of the main reasons why the task of performing rescue missions mostly had not yet been taken over by the government in most parts of the world, though the government would probably be more efficient.

The Decidueye had been going on rescue missions for a while now, but so far he had not been very successful at it. He had only been successful enough to not quit. His failure was mostly because he tried to only go on missions that were not too dangerous. If he accidently went on a mission that was too dangerous usually where a criminal Pokémon tried to kill him, then he would give up and play dead. This was not really because Webster was afraid of getting hurt, but because he was afraid that the Pokémon would hate him if Webster beat him. If a criminal Pokémon he was fighting was not trying to kill him, then the Decidueye would take his chances that this Pokémon would not hold so bad a grudge if he lost and Webster would not give up. It would have been safer for Webster if he ran away when he gave up, but Pokémon might think he was a coward if he did that, so he would just play dead because it would not be as bad if Pokémon just thought he was weak and fainted. That would lower their expectations of him.

Tonight, Webster was going on the biggest mission in his career so far, though it would soon be followed by an even bigger mission. Webster was going to face a Legendary Pokémon, a Suicune. This Suicune had been terrorizing a certain city called Slate City which was known for being the biggest industrial city in the world with the largest population of Poison-type Pokémon. The Suicune was said to be kidnapping random Pokémon from the city and dragging them up Mount Articuno which overlooked Slate City and taking them to the mountain's cave.

Webster had flown up to the ledge that the cave opened onto and was looking inside with apprehension. He was afraid that this mission would be dangerous, but he wanted to risk it because he did not want to pass up the opportunity to meet a Legendary Pokémon. The Decidueye did not actually look afraid. He had a blank looking expression on his face that he usually had, but I could see the slight changes in it to tell you what his expression was supposed to be. Almost always, it was supposed to look like Webster was frowning even when he was smiling.

He stepped forward with his talons crunching softly in the snow. Mount Articuno was named after the Legendary Pokémon because the top of the mountain always remained covered in snow and ice though an Articuno probably never visited it. Webster walked onto the icy floor of Articuno Cave and moved forward carefully so he would not slip as he looked around. The walls seemed to be lined with some Bright Powder so that the cave would be illuminated enough for one to see in it. The light from the powder was what helped Webster to find the entrance to Articuno Cave so easily when he was flying around the mountain.

No one seemed to be in this chamber of the cave, but as the Decidueye made his way farther inside he saw piled near the back of the chamber a huge amount of ice which contained what was probably all of the kidnapped Pokémon. They were all trapped in a severely frozen state, but they were probably fine. Most Pokémon could survive being frozen for really long periods of time.

Webster jumped when he saw them, and he jumped again when he heard someone behind him shout, "You!"

Quickly turning around he saw that it was the Suicune who had shouted at him. The Legendary Pokémon had somehow silently made his way between Webster and the cave's entrance.

"What are you doing here?" the Suicune asked. "Have you come here to fight me?"

"Maybe," Webster answered.

"Maybe? Answer me yes or no! Don't say maybe."

The Decidueye shrugged.

"Ugh, fine, I'll just take that as a 'yes'. We'll fight!" With that, the Suicune shot an Ice Beam from his mouth at Webster who jumped into the air just in time to dodge it. The Suicune kept firing his attack at him, but Webster kept fluttering just out of the Ice Beam's reach and meanwhile formed two arrows in his hands out of thin air.

When the Suicune stopped to take a breath, Webster dived at him and his arrows glowed bright green as he used them to slash the Legendary Pokémon with Leaf Blade.

The Suicune responded by biting one of Webster's arms with Ice Fang.

Webster gasped and pushed the Suicune away with one more Leaf Blade attack. The icy floor caused them to slide apart so there was a short distance between them. They stared at each other for a moment before continuing.

Neither of them actually seemed to be hurt. This was because when Pokémon battle there were two different ways each of them could choose to fight. One way was that they could use actual attacks which could create real wounds, or they could use fake attacks which could not cause any real damage but could cause a Pokémon to faint for a short period of time if he received enough attacks. Webster never fought with real attacks.

The Suicune was the first to act after their brief pause. He inhaled to use Ice Beam again, but Webster was waiting for this.

The Decidueye suddenly disappeared in a shadowy haze dropping his arrows which disintegrated as they hit the ground, and he reappeared beside the Suicune and used his talons to strike him with Sucker Punch before the Legendary Pokémon could even launch his attack.

After Webster's super effective Leaf Blade attacks, the Sucker Punch was just enough to knock the Suicune out. He fell to the ground creating a heavy scraping sound as his horn met the ice.

Webster looked concerned that the Suicune might have gotten hurt when he fell, but there was not anything that he could really do about it, so he took out his cell phone which he had been concealing under his collar and dialed a number.

The phone was not getting a signal, so Webster stepped outside the cave to try there. He seemed anxious about calling. Right before he tried calling the first time, he had been stifling a smile on his face because he realized that he had just defeated a Legendary Pokémon which was something very few Pokémon have done, but now he did not have to suppress his smile in case it would not be appropriate because what he had to do now made him too upset.

The call went through, so Webster said to the Pokémon on the other side, "Um, we're at-we're at the mountain cave, and-and…the Suicune…has been de-has been knocked out. Um, the other Pokémon…the ones who were kidnapped…they're frozen here, so-so maybe bring, um, Ice Heals?" Webster winced as he waited for a response. He spoke with poor inflection.

"Okay," he said and then looked at the phone's screen to see if the call had ended. It had not, so Webster went to hang it up but he hesitated before he did it. Then he looked like he wanted to throw his phone down, but he just shoved it back under his collar and stiffly went back into the cave clawing at the ground with his talons as he walked though not enough to leave any marks.

He folded himself up against a corner of the cave and tried to relax a little while he watched the Suicune to make sure he did not wake up before the authorities arrived. He could not relax though especially because it seemed he was worried that the frozen Pokémon could still see him through the ice.

Later on, Webster heard a sound coming from outside, so he quickly got up but he slipped and fell back down. He looked embarrassed as he got back up carefully this time and tried to see if anyone saw him. Luckily it seemed like no one did, so he edged toward the cave's entrance to see who was there.

It was a Crobat, a Gliscor, a Weezing, and a Dustox and the Crobat and Gliscor were carrying a Chansey and a Swalot. They rushed to go deal with the Pokémon in the cave but they also nodded at Webster in appreciation as they passed him.

The Decidueye lingered and watched the Pokémon as they worked. The Gliscor, Dustox, Chansey, and Swalot were taking care of the frozen Pokémon while the Crobat and Weezing were dealing with the Suicune. Webster could leave now, but there was something else he wanted so he slowly approached the Crobat and Weezing. The Crobat was currently tying Red Chains to the Suicune while the Weezing supervised. The Red Chain was used because it had the power to prevent any Pokémon it came in contact with from using any of their special powers. Without it, criminal Pokémon would be very difficult to contain because their powers were usually enough to break anything else that tried to restrain them.

Just as the Crobat was finishing, the Suicune opened his eyes and lifted his head. He looked around surveying what was happening and then he groaned in frustration and lowered his head back down.

They Crobat and Weezing glared at him unsympathetically, but then they noticed that Webster was standing nearby so the Crobat asked him, "Is there something you want?"

"Oh, can I-can I talk to him?" Webster asked gesturing towards the Suicune.

"What?" They did not hear him.

"Can I talk to him?" Webster repeated.

"Oh, of course," the Crobat answered and he and the Weezing backed up so that Webster could get closer to the Suicune, but the Decidueye was dismayed to see that they only backed up a little and were still watching.

Webster leaned closer to the Suicune but he did not say anything yet. He was waiting for the Suicune to speak first, but the Legendary Pokémon had his eyes closed and did not seem to notice that he was there.

"I-I was wondering if I could ask you something?" Webster barely managed to say to him quietly. But, to his horror, Webster found that the Suicune did not even hear him and still just lay on the ground with his eyes closed.

Webster looked very embarrassed as he glanced back at the Crobat and Weezing. They were still watching him, but they probably did not hear what he said either because Webster was speaking softly so that they would not hear him.

When Webster's eyes flicked back to the Suicune, he was delightedly surprised to find that the Legendary Pokémon had opened his eyes now and was looking back at him. "Did you want something?" the Suicune asked coldly lifting his head a little.

Webster smiled at him weakly though he could not meet his eyes and he repeated, "Can I ask you something?"

"What?"

The Suicune probably did not hear what Webster said, but he just went on to the question he wanted to ask. "Why-why did you do this?"

"What? Speak up!" the Suicune demanded. "I can't hear you!"

Again Webster looked embarrassed and again he glanced back at the other two Pokémon. The Crobat might have heard what the Suicune said, but the Weezing had left to check on the progress of the other Pokémon who seemed to be doing fine.

"Why did you do this?" Webster repeated leaning closer to the Suicune but hardly speaking any louder.

The Suicune seemed to have calmed down a little and asked, "Are you trying to ask me why I did this?"

"Yes," said Webster nodding, but he was worried about what the Crobat would think about his question. However, before he could glance back one more time he was relieved to hear that the Weezing had come back to talk to the Crobat about the other Pokémon and thus they were distracted from listening to what the Suicune was saying.

"Why do you want to know?" the Suicune asked Webster.

"I…I don't know," he answered shrugging.

The Suicune looked annoyed by that answer but he said anyway, "Well, I guess it's good enough that you want to know. I will probably have a trial where I will get to explain my case, but probably no one there who listens to it will care. It is good that you seem to care at least since I believe that what I have to say is important."

Webster smiled at him again.

"Alright, I'll tell you why I did this. First, do you know what my favorite thing in the world is?"

The Decidueye shrugged but he guessed, "Water?"

"It's water," the Suicune answered and then he rambled on a little about why water was so great. "And so that's why," he said afterward, "I like to travel the world searching for a pure reservoir of water. I wasn't sure if I would ever find it. You know how rapidly industry has been growing recently, and it's like nature is disappearing now in the blink of an eye? I was really worried that with all this and all of the pollution this industry has created, I would never find the pure reservoir.

"And then, I found this place. I thought that Slate City was the worst city in the world and that surely I would never find the reservoir here, but still something drew me here and then I found, deeper in this cave, the reservoir! I am sure it was it, but do you know what happened? This city is so polluted that its pollution even reached the water! It's no good anymore! It was ruined! Oh, can't you taste it in the air? This place is just toxic!"

Webster looked concerned that the Suicune was getting too worked up, but he shrugged and also nodded a little at his question. Maybe he also thought that the quality of the air was not as good as at other places but it did not really matter to him that much.

Luckily the Suicune calmed down again before he continued. "Well, what I did after that was pretty stupid," he said. "I was just so angry at the city for ruining my favorite thing that I had been searching most of my life for that I just wanted to take revenge right away. So, without any plan I just started attacking citizens of Slate City and taking them here, but I knew that this would never work and soon someone like you would stop me. I guess I was just trying to send Pokémon a message, but they probably didn't get it. Anyway, that's why I did it. Also, I never meant to really hurt anyone, and I don't think I did."

Webster nodded as he seemed to be contemplating what the Suicune said. "Thanks for telling me," he said though the Suicune probably did not really hear him.

"Are you done talking to him?" the Crobat asked as he and the Weezing noticed that they were done and Webster was resigning from the Legendary Pokémon a little.

"Yes, I think so," Webster answered.

"Okay," said the Crobat. Then he saw that the Decidueye was retreating farther toward the exit. "You're not leaving, are you?" he asked. "We thought you would come into the city with us so the Pokémon could celebrate your victory, and then maybe we would have an award ceremony for you tomorrow."

Webster smiled a little but declined saying, "No, thanks." Then he waved goodbye to the Pokémon and turned and went out the cave entrance and jumped off the ledge outside to fly back to the city.

Webster smiled giddily to himself and his red eyes glowed as he flew, but this was quickly replaced by dread and his eyes dulled. Soon he made it to the city and was flying through its tall buildings trying to find his way. Even though it was nighttime, Slate City was still very active and noisy and it had so many lights that though the sky was black with hardly any stars, it looked like it was still daytime on many of the streets below.

The Decidueye landed on a dim and desolate rooftop but he was concerned with the brightly lit building across the street which he studied for a moment before gliding down to its entrance. This building was the hotel Webster was staying at. He opened one of its glass doors and stepped into the lobby. As the door closed behind him, the sounds of the city became distant and were replaced mostly by the sound of a fountain in the lobby as there was only one other Pokémon there. Webster seemed to notice her sitting at the reception desk out of the corner of his eye as he made his way to the elevators, but he probably could not tell what species she was or even if there actually was a Pokémon there since he would not look at her directly.

He was probably waiting to see if she would greet him as he would not greet her first, but the waiting seemed to make him nervous.

As Webster was halfway across the lobby, she did greet him saying, "Hello, Decidueye. Are you having a pleasant evening?"

In response, Webster turned to her and forced a poor smile on his face and said, "Yes." Now he was able to glimpse that this Pokémon was a Trubbish. He might have asked her about her evening too but she was too far away that it would have been too hard, so he quickly looked away again making their greeting rather awkward.

Webster made it to the elevators and pressed the button to summon one, but he still seemed nervous that the Trubbish was still watching him. When the elevator came and the Decidueye slipped inside and pressed one of the floor buttons, his nervousness seemed to increase. I think that he was not sure what floor his room was on, but he thought he would have to pick one anyway so he just guessed.

However, he was finally able to relax a little after the elevator door closed and he was alone and took out the card key for his room and saw marked on it that he had picked the right floor.

Now, he was almost safe. Once the elevator reached his floor, he just had to walk through the empty lighted hallway and find his room. Then when he found it, he checked his card a couple of times to see that the numbers matched before unlocking it and stepping in.

Inside, the room was dark, but instead of turning on the lights, Webster just waited for a moment for his eyes to adjust. He did this probably because there was another Pokémon in the room sleeping in one of the two beds and he did not feel like bothering her with the light.

But, he still wanted her to wake up, so he crept up to her bed and gently nudged her with his hand.

She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him in the dark and greeted him saying, "Blissey."

This Pokémon was a Blissey named Please. You might or might not think that her name was weird, but Pokémon could be named after pretty much anything so it was not that weird for her. However, Please was a pretty weird Pokémon. For one thing, she only spoke by saying the name of her species which was a highly uncommon trait in the regions she had been to and meant that most Pokémon could not understand her. For another thing, she seemed to be content with just spending all her time traveling with Webster and listening to him and being nice to him instead of living her own life.

"Hi, Please," the Decidueye greeted back smiling. His giddiness was returning, but he still spoke quietly so no one would hear him in the other rooms. "Hey, guess what," he said excitedly even though he knew that Please was not going to guess anything.

"Bliss?" Please asked.

"I won," Webster announced. "I beat the Suicune."

"Blissey!" Please cheered though also quietly.

"Heh, yah, the first Legendary Pokémon I ever met, I beat him."

Please cheered again.

"Oh, and also that's not all. Even better than that…you know the thing I've been telling you that I've wanted to do. I did that too. I asked the Suicune why he was causing trouble for Slate City."

Please almost cheered at a normal volume that time.

"Yah, do you want to know what his answer was?"

"Bliss," Please answered nodding.

"Okay, he did it for-for nature I guess because Slate City creates so much pollution that it really hurts the environment. He also said that the city's pollution ruined this pure reservoir thing that he found in the mountain that he said was his favorite thing in the world, so he was really upset. That was why he did it."

Please nodded in contemplation. She and Webster were not smiling anymore because they felt bad for the Suicune.

"It's not good," the Decidueye said. "The Suicune shouldn't have reacted violently, but that shouldn't mean that no one should listen to him, right? His cause is still important, but still it seems like no one will care what he says now. Ah, well, hopefully things will still work out for his cause. I've been hearing more about Pokémon standing up for the environment, so maybe things will be able to change though probably not completely, but maybe things will get a little better. Things have changed before."

"Blissey," said Please hoping with Webster.

"Well, as you can see, the rescue mission wasn't really all that great." Webster looked down upset. "You know what was really bad for me was having to call to report my completion of the mission. I really messed it up this time. I don't like calling Pokémon."

"Blissey," Please said consolingly.

"A Pokémon my age shouldn't speak the way I do."

They did not say anything else for a while after that. I did not actually know how old Webster was as Pokémon hardly show any differences in appearance as they age other than evolution though evolution was not directly related to age as it was usually determined by a Pokémon's skill level in battling, but I did not think the Decidueye was really very old. He was probably only just old enough to be considered an adult as he was not in school anymore but did not seem very experienced with the world. Anyway, he knew that he could not help it that he did not speak properly.

Webster clawed at the carpeted floor. He was unintentionally assaulting himself with dread over what may or may not have happened when he made the call during the mission. He was always doing this. He had compared this dread to the feeling of getting torn apart on the inside or of burning, though he knew that it did not actually feel this way. It was just more or less equivalent to these descriptions.

This dread was the reason why he could not communicate properly. When he was younger and was supposed to be learning social skills he was just too afraid to do anything because he knew that with whatever interaction he made with other Pokémon he would afterward be subjected to the pain of dreading over how he might have messed it up. He might have stopped dreading over these things, but he felt like there was too much reason behind it. He just could not stand the idea of someone hating him especially since pretty much all Pokémon were connected these days so if one Pokémon could become his enemy, then they all could. But, because Webster hardly interacted with others, he succeeded in not having any enemies, though he knew that not having any enemies was not worth not having any friends. However, it was too late now. Pokémon were just too horrifying that Webster could never get over his fear of them to ask them to help him with his problem and no one was going to think to help him, so he was just stuck.

Despite all of this though, Webster liked who he was and he would not want to change anything in his past. He knew he was fortunate in this way. Not all Pokémon liked themselves.

I was only able to know these things about Webster because I would hear him confide them to his Blissey. Otherwise, I would just be speculating.

"Hey, how about we get out of here," Webster muttered to Please.

"Blissey," she agreed and jumped up off the bed.

Webster was smiling and perking up a little. "Yah," he said, "they were talking about how they would have an award ceremony for me for beating the Suicune. That would probably be awful, so let's go before anything happens."

"Bliss," said Please nodding and smiling at Webster as he went to flick on the light switch for the room making them squint for a moment as their eyes adjusted to the light.

The Decidueye picked up a dark colored backpack that had been placed in a chair and he and Please put a few of their things into it that they had taken out. Then Webster checked the backpack and the room a few times to see that they had everything and then zipped it up and slipped it on. "Okay," he said, "I guess we have everything," but he did not sound completely confident.

Please nodded, so Webster turned the lights back off and they made their way out into the hall and then down to the elevators.

The elevator was empty again when Webster and Please entered it, so after the door closed, Please asked the Decidueye something. "Blissey?" she said and made a motion of swinging her short arms and standing on the ends of her feet like she was jumping.

"Heh, do you want to jump in the elevator?" Webster asked smiling.

"Bliss," Please answered nodding.

"I've jumped in an elevator before," said Webster. "It's not really any different from jumping in a regular place." However, after glancing at the ceiling, he said, "But we could just do it anyway."

Please cheered and then she and the Decidueye jumped just before the elevator reached the lobby. Please started laughing as they jumped with the kind of innocent sounding laughter that often makes other Pokémon happy but also worried that something bad might happen to the Pokémon laughing. Webster's smile also widened with the jump, but he quickly covered his mouth with his hand and removed the smile before the door opened.

"Hello again, Decidueye," the Trubbish sitting on the reception desk greeted him as they approached to check out. "What's up? Are you guys leaving right now?"

"Yes," Webster answered glancing at her nervously, but everything went okay as they proceeded with checking out.

"Okay, you guys have a nice night," the Trubbish said as Webster and Please made to leave.

"You too," Webster returned forcing another smile on his face for her while Please waved. It might not have seemed like what he said meant anything, but I think that he really did mean it. He actually hoped that this Trubbish would have a nice night.

Once the two Pokémon were out on the street, Webster asked quietly, "So, where should we go now?"

"Bliss," said Please shrugging.

The Decidueye looked around for a moment noting how many other Pokémon were nearby and then said, "Ah, there are too many Pokémon around. How about we just go this way and we can talk later when we find an emptier area."

Please nodded, so they started walking down the street. As they walked, Webster looked down most of the time when he was not looking around to check their surroundings. They went on for a while without finding an uncrowded place until something happened to interrupt them.

"Hey! Hey, you!" someone was shouting behind them.

Webster did not look right away probably because he usually assumed that Pokémon were not trying to talk to him. However, as the shouting continued, he glanced back, but in that glance he did not see anyone looking at him so he quickly looked forward again.

"Hey, Decidueye," the Pokémon shouted, so Webster knew she probably meant him and he had to look back again and try harder to see who was shouting.

"Ah, hello," said the Pokémon seeming relieved that Webster finally saw her and stopped with Please so that she could come up to them to talk about something. The Pokémon was an Alolan Grimer.

"Hi," said Webster forcing a nervous smile. He might have been worried that he was in trouble for something.

"Are you the Decidueye who defeated the Suicune?" the Grimer asked. Apparently the news of his victory had already spread through the social media.

"Yes," Webster answered still nervous.

"Wow, that's so cool!" the Grimer exclaimed.

"Oh, thank you," Webster said relaxing a little. Now he was actually smiling and had to cover it. This kind of praise and attention really pleased him often to the point of uncontrollable smiling.

"Mm-hm, not all Pokémon can beat a Legendary Pokémon. You must be really exceptional!"

Webster turned his head down trying to show humility.

"Anyway, that's why I wanted to ask you something. Have you heard about what's happening in the Alola region?"

"No," said the Decidueye shaking his head. He seemed interested in this.

"It's bad. They say that the Legendary Pokémon Zygarde is attacking Alola. It makes me really worried. I'm from Alola and a lot of my family lives there. I would be devastated if anything happened to them. But, seeing you gives me hope. You have already defeated a Legendary Pokémon, so maybe you can do it again with the Zygarde. That's why I was hoping that you would go to Alola and stop him."

"Oh." Webster seemed surprised by this request. What the Alolan Grimer said worried him too, but he probably was not very confident that he could actually do anything to help. However, he usually did not turn down any of the few requests he received even if he could not fulfill them, so he said, "I guess I'll try to do what I can."

"Oh, thank you!" the Grimer exclaimed and she jumped up to hug Webster.

"Uh, you're welcome," the Decidueye mumbled looking uncomfortable but also somewhat pleased.

"Heh, sorry," said the Grimer as she got off him. "Well, I guess I'll leave you to it. Good luck!"

"Thanks," said Webster waving goodbye with Please while the Grimer waved back and turned to go back the way she came.

"Hm, I guess we'll have to go to Alola then," the Decidueye said to Please once the Grimer was gone. "We would have to take a plane to get there. I don't think there's an airport in this city, but I think Turquoise City has one and it's pretty close by. I guess I'll have to check my phone."

Please nodded as Webster took out his cell phone to look up a map.

"Okay," he said putting his phone away again, "we'll go to the airport in Turquoise City, and it looks like we were already going in the direction of the city so that's good. Shall we go?"

"Bliss," Please agreed, so they continued to make their way through Slate City but they did not talk anymore until they reached the highway outside of the city that went to Turquoise City.

The two Pokémon had to walk alongside the highway because there were many vehicles traveling across it that might hit them if they were on the road. It was still common though for Pokémon to travel the roads on foot because it used to be that they would almost always travel that way.

While they walked, Webster observed the many lights around them coming from the vehicles, the city behind them, and the factories that lined the highway. "It looks kind of like Christmas lights," he said to Please referring to the factories. "Slate City was really cool, wasn't it with so many Pokémon and buildings? It's too bad that the Suicune didn't like it. I guess I just think it's cool how all the Pokémon in the city have their own unique stories about their lives and all the buildings also hold many of the stories of the Pokémon who made them. We should come back sometime."

"Blissey," Please agreed.

"Ah, but I guess that a lot of the stories in Slate City are probably sad ones. Things are so bad. I guess I better look up what this trouble is now in Alola and also check the flight schedule and stuff."

So, Webster took his phone out again to look up these things while they walked. He did this with reserve though. He worried that someone might trace what he looked up on the internet, so he usually did not look things up unless he had to.

"Alright," he said later when he was done sounding unhappy. "Everything's settled with the plane I guess. It's going to take us to Alola's Akala Island, though the Zygarde is on Ula'ula Island but that island doesn't have an airport. Do you want to hear about what I found out about the Zygarde?"

Please nodded.

"Well, it seems that the Zygarde is focusing his attacks on this research facility on Ula'ula called the Aether Institute, and it seems that he has a new form that hasn't been seen before that's a lot stronger than normal. It's probably no use for us to go to Alola. The Zygarde will probably be stopped before we even get there, and even if he isn't he's probably too powerful for me to fight."

"Blissey," said Please to show she was listening.

"Well, I told that Grimer that I would try to help, so I guess we'll just have to go anyway."

Please nodded.

"You know, I grew up on Alola's Melemele Island and my family lives there. I haven't seen them for a while. My parents would probably be mad at me if they found out I went to Alola and didn't see them, so I guess we'll also have to visit them while we're there."

Webster did not seem to like this idea. He might have been more comfortable being around his parents than other Pokémon, but they were not his friends. They just did not know him like everyone else did not know him. Also, he had not told them what he had been doing since he left home. They probably thought that he was doing nothing.

The two Pokémon did not talk about much after that. Webster relaxed a little as he quietly thought about things and admired their surroundings sometimes. They reached Turquoise City just as the sun was rising. Like Slate City, it was also a big city being only slightly smaller. At a distance in the faint morning light, it looked like an active but tranquil city that bordered the ocean, but Webster knew that inside it must have been just as sad as Slate City.
