A/N: Random idea I got from The West Wing.
Sometime around seven, the sunlight forced Canada to blink away. Shielding his eyes and muttering, the young nation yawned. Still sleepy, Canada somehow managed to extract himself from between Korea and Hong Kong, and someone's leg across his. Looking over he realized the leg was attached to Denmark, who still clutched a Wii remote. The other remotes got buried under everyone else as they crashed after two straight days of video games. One, he noticed, someone had balanced on America's forehead. Probably Japan, since their host had gone to sleep last as always.
"Good morning Matthew," Japan whispered from the doorway.
Yawning, Canada gingerly found his way through the nations sprawled across the floor, "Morning."
"You and America have several messages." Japan handed him both cell-phones, "all from your governments."
That was odd. No one's boss or government contacted them during a video game marathon because they got too noisy to hear their phones. Because of that, the host always chose their most remote house. Otherwise neighbors complained about the noise, before the rule they all got arrested for noise multiple times. Eventually their bosses delivered an ultimatum.
"Huh," taking both, after all he knew America's pass code, Canada flipped through his own messages first.
Wait…
Huh…
What…?
An American contingency plan to invade his land last used in 1815 nearly reactivated? What had he missed?
Upon checking America's phone, he found dozens on something dubbed 'Operation Sleepover'.
What the hell had happened?
"Something wrong?" Japan frowned.
Canada just compared the messages, "I'm not sure… but hunting season ended yesterday… weird, it's supposed to end next week… The US House voted down a bill to limit stemcell research..."
"The early end to hunting season is strange, I wonder why."
"No idea, it should at least be an interesting story."
What ever explanation his boss gave, it would be interesting to say the very least.
Wait, what was this message about black hop helicopters?
A/N: A brief explanation: American hunters tresspassed into Canadian territory to hunt snow geese, things escalated; a character threatened the Canadian Ambassador with a defunct invasion plan drafted in the 1790s; the character ended everything by calling an early end to hunting season. So, yeah Canada's in for an interesting explanation.
