So this is my first attempt at a fan-fiction over one chapter so please be gentle!

I've always wanted to try my hand at writing a fan-fiction, and with the epic conclusion to LOK i figured now would be a good time.

Failure...The one constant thing in my life. But not anymore, not today. Today failure isn't an option." He thought as he made his way through the cheering crowd and towards the platform.

"Thirty minutes, that's it. Just thirty minutes that's all." He said to himself now looking up at the stage.

There she is, the woman he idolized. Strong independent, selfless, she was his hero. Everything he once wanted to be.

"I wanted to be just like you, I wanted to help people. You don't need to be a fighter to help others... isn't that what you said..." He recalled her speech she had made just the previous year. It was one of his favorites.

She shook hands with the mayor laughing and smiling as she accepted whatever award she was being given today. Holding hands with her fiance she waved at the crowd and was rewarded by a thunderous cheer.

He looked at the woman beside her, Asami Sato. Just as incredible in her own way. He remembered being so happy for them when he had heard the news of their engagement. He remembered how worried he had been about how the city would react to the news that She was engaged to another woman. And how overjoyed he was when the city had accepted her despite her choice in partner.

"I like to think i had something to do with that" He smiled fondly at the memory. It was his first and only article to get on the front page.

"I wonder if they remember me from that interview..."

His thoughts were interrupted when a bright ball of fire flew up from one of the roofs of a building near by.

"What on earth was that?" A woman said close by to him.

"Probably just some fire-bender kids." a mans voice responded reassuringly.

If only that were true he thought. That was the signal, it was time. He reached into his jacket and pulled out the black faceless mask, putting it on he took a long deep breath.

It doesn't matter if she remembers me anyway...it doesn't matter if she used to be my hero, because today... today i'm going to kill her...
