A/N: After rewatching X-Files I wanted some sunflower seeds. Thus, the birth of this ficcy!

Sunflower Seeds
By: LOSTrocker

They taunted her from his desk. The sunflower seeds set melancholy beside his
computer. Scully had to admit, she never really tasted them. She didn't
understand why Mulder, or anyone for that matter would eat seeds. Peanuts,
sure, but that was a completely different thing. Well, sort of.

Seeds were something that you put in the ground to let grow, not in your
mouth. Yet, temptation was getting to her. Mulder always did have that effect
on her, no matter what area.

So, she gave in and reached for some. She was almost at the
bowl when she stopped herself. Mulder was very protective of his sunflower
seeds. He was like a preschooler with a new toy at times when it came to his
favorite snack. Mulder would hold them close and declare:

"Mine!"

Surely, he wouldn't mind if his own… whatever she was to him (girlfriend,
wife, love mate, you pick one) took a few seeds. She was hungry. She hadn't
really had anything all day. She was too busy with paper work.

Scully pulled her hand back. She could easily pull away now and this little
battle with the sunflower seeds would be over. They would win in the end, but
did she give a damn? Hell, no. Okay, maybe a little.

Her stomach rumbled, telling her to feed it or she would pay for it later.

"Mulder?" Scully questioned, seeing if he was anywhere near her, or in
the home they shared.

She waited. Nothing, but she tried again just to make sure. "Mulder?" she
called out a second time. She smirked. Nothing, she was officially alone.

Scully grabbed a few and popped them in her mouth. That was a bad choice to
make. The amount of salt really got to her. She could feel her cholesterol
going up. She spit out a few in a nearby trashcan. She was down to one now.
This was more tolerable, until she bit into the damn thing.

"Ow," she said to herself.

It hurt her teeth. She was going to kill Mulder if she had to go to the
dentist for this, not after paying for the bill first.

"You're the one who wanted try them," a little voice in her head said.

"So, it's always fun to blame Mulder." She argued with it.

Scully went to crunch again. "Ow," It didn't help.

"See, told you," the voice mocked her.

In which she returned: "Shut up!"

That was it, she spit them all out. She knew she should've known better.
They hurt her teeth, they were salty, and God how she hated that cracking noise
they made when you went to bit into them. Mulder could annoy someone to hell
with all the cracking. Then again, she thought that he did it just because he
knew they annoyed her or anyone else around him.

The only good things about the seeds were, they reminded her of everything
that Mulder was, but that was all she was going to give them.

Fin.
