Note: I do not own Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

"Wyatt, why are we here?" I asked impatiently. As a Bulbasaur, this sand takes a toll on my glossy skin.

"This place is great for sightseeing, Rose. Besides, don't you want to find some artifacts of ancient yore?" the Chimchar said. "The Northern Desert is steeped in mystery, a treasure trove of history! Hey, that rhymes."

This was so boring. He told me to lighten up and at least listen to the sweet music. Wait, music? What the heck! Does Wyatt think we are in a video game or something?

Time passed. We roamed the place, ate some apples. No treasure was found so far, but Wyatt was still in high spirits. After what seemed like hours, our team duo came across a ledge. Over the ledge was a chest of remarkable quality. It was ocean blue, with swirls of crystalline white along the edges. The box appeared to be opened already. Wyatt inched over to it and started to lift the heavy lid. A voice rang from inside the box, which caused him to jump back, startled.

"Don't open the box! I'm warning you!"

"Yow! Are you going to give us a c-curse?" I piped up.

For a few moments, it was silent.

"...No. I am hiding from an outlaw." The voice inside the box answered.

"Show yourself, so we can help you." Wyatt said calmly.

"Okay, then." The box opened, revealing a young Gallade. He wore a jacket that has seen better days, a monocle, and a dark green bowtie. His hair was in disarray.

"My, you look rather beat up!" Wyatt exclaimed. "What happened?

The Gallade explained to us how he angered a Raichu by catching him taking two food samples instead of one in the Dungeon Mall.

"Hey, save some samples for the rest of us!" He yelled. Some other Pokemon in the mall noticed.

"Well, I'll be darned. It's the notorious Food Sample Thief!" called a Shellos.

"Blew my cover, you did. This is gonna be a long day." growled the Food Sample Thief, his tail crackling with electricity.

"I then, as fast as I could, ran out of there and hid in a chest. Then… you two found me." he sighed.

"Anyone else hear something?" Wyatt suddenly asked. There was no doubt about it- something was there. As a matter of fact, said thief was right behind them, steaming mad! He didn't look threatening at all.

"You're under arrest." I said, so I flashed my badge and the Raichu whooshed away.

"How anticlimax." the Gallade laughed.

"Say, you haven't told us your name yet." Wyatt brought up.

"Oh, that? My name is Fred. Nice to meet you! And yours?"

"I'm Wyatt, and this is Rose." A thought crossed his mind. "Do you want to join our team?"

"If it's recruitment you want, then I'd happily oblige!"

No treasure was found that day, but helping someone out was worthwhile. The End!
