Hello people!
It's finally here- the newly written In Salvation We Seek. I really liked the idea for this story but I didn't really like the first attempt at it many years ago. It has taken me awhile to rewrite some of the chapters now that I'm not only older but have a more demanding job and along with being on my last year of college! Life has slowed down and I'm now ready to get back to working on my stories.
The good news is that from this point on, I will update once a week like I use to update before things got too hectic.

Blood curdling screams echoed throughout the vast kingdom of Kohana in the early hours of what was was supposed to be an ordinary day. The once breezy air now clouded in black smoke and mystery. Lifeless bodies of civilians and warriors alike littered the open streets, some recognizable, other not. Flames engulfed entire home and shops throughout what was once considered the most thriving village that ever stood in the western lands.
Toward the North end of the city lied Shogun Palace, a famous landmark through the country and also the home of the royal Haruno family. The first King of the country had possessed great power to reign over the lands and the mass of other demons who lived there, along with a great king there were great supporters which formed a society which grew into a nation.
A proud standing nation.
"Sasuke…" There was a serious tone in the young mans voice.
"What is it, big brother?"
There was nothing said between the two for a few moments, nothing could be heard but the sound of a females screams. Sasuke, still a child, looked up at his older brother, Itachi, with wide eyes. Itachi tried his best to shoot a smile in the young ones direction but couldn't fully push down the over growing concern that persisted deep in his belly.
Handing a small, pink blanket to the young child, Itachi then took his two fingers and placed them on the forehead of his beloved little brother, he could feel a prick of sorrow in his heart. Once again, neither one of them spoke; they didn't have to. There was an unannounced bond the two of them had always shared. With one quick motion Itachi took the young hand next to him and began to make their way through the halls of the Shogun royal palace with the intent of escape.
With the stillness of the night and casted moonlight shadows the two siblings made it through the once enchanting mansion halls all the way to the back courtyard before any sight of the enemy. The courtyard was open; it was once portrayed as the most beautiful area throughout the entire castle. What was once a peaceful place was now utterly disturbed. The scent of burning wood and flesh lingered in the air.
Throwing out his hand in one swift motion, Itachi stopped Sasuke dead in his tracks—it was the enemy. A dark and looming figure stood in front of both of the boy, arms crossed over his chest in a dawning stance. There was a mask placed over his face, it seemed to be in the shape of a rabbit but Sasuke wasn't able to see the opponents true face.
"There was not a doubt in my mind that you would come this way, Itachi."
The voice of the male who spoke was deep and sinister with almost a snake-like slither to it, in fact this sent shivers down youngest Uchiha's spine. Taking a tiny step back, he clutched on the small pink blanket in his hands, unwilling to let it go. Noticing this, the longhaired raven slowly unsheathed the katana strapped to his back, angling it over his shoulder and in front of Sasuke.
"Sasuke," Itachi's cool voice broke the tense silence "Run."
April 4th, eighteen years ago Demon World broke into its first civil war.
~Sakura's P.O.V.~
It was about 7:57a.m. when I walked into Mr. Senju's chemistry class, the day had just begun but I could already feel myself shutting back down. I pulled out the dark green plastic chair listening to the rubber squeak against the tile and took my seat next to a cheerful blonde. It didn't take her long to realize my presence before she turned to me and spoke with her normally chipper tone;
"Sakura, good morning."
"Good morning, Shion."
I did nothing but stare out of the classroom window from the second floor out into the brightening sky. It wasn't rare for Shion to talk to me, we were lab partners after all but I could never shake this feeling that I had when I was around her, the feeling that she didn't want to be near me. Truthfully, that's how it was with most people, anyway. But the thoughts soon scattered from my head when Mr. Senju walked though the classroom doors just seconds before the first bell rang.
The entire class went by swiftly, we were now learning about the array of pigments, enzymes, and compounds in plants so there really wasn't much to do but take notes and pretend to pay close attention. Most of the time I just end up scribbling in my notebook anyway.
Just like first hour the rest of the day went by pretty smoothly and before I knew it lunch was here. It really was my favorite time of the day. Gathering up my books and lunch pale I closed my locker door and began to wonder toward the school's green house that resided on top of the roof—thank you botany club— that was normally empty during lunch and my go-to place for finishing up another book. I always had a bad habit of reading instead of socializing.
I continued my walk, the greenhouse really held a special place to me; it was the only place you could really find me around the school when class wasn't in session. It brought a sense of calmness and peace over me, I was always alone and could think sensibly about any situation. The smell of the flowers was always refreshing after hours in a crowded high school.
Walking out the first door, the cold December air hit my uncovered legs, it really was a little bit of an inconvenience that our uniform was always a plaid skirt. The walk across the roof to the small shack was a quick even with the chilly winter air. As I made my way up to the lower half of the schools rooftop and opened the plastic door to the detached building. With the seal broken I could smell the all too familiar sweet aroma escape from the small crack and fill my nostrils with pure bliss, a mixture of pure and naturalness. Enjoying that fist breath I looked around me one last time and when there was no one in sight, I let myself in.
The greenhouse was filled with all different types of plants; one in particular was the deep purple Anemone that sat on the last table in the furthest corner of the room.
It was a small flower with silky smooth petals and a long fuzzy stem intertwining petals with other flowers. It was so simplistic which made it so beautiful. The dark color of the flower stood out among all the others. Yellows and pinks covered the rest of the room with the occasional white and green plants making an entrance, it wasn't hard for someone to get lost in the calming colors.
"Anemone—Greek word for wind, since their lives are so short the Victorians offered this flower during hard times, it was the meaning of 'Forsaken'."
I had learned a lot over the number of years my head was dug into a book and this is one of those things. Contemplating for a moment; it sadden me to think that something so delicate and beautiful had such a demented meaning in life…
Sitting in the far corner along with the Amenone plant was a small black roll chair and a small black wooden desk that was littered with receipt papers and pencils. Coming here almost every day it was pretty much my desk. I walked over and plopped down on that chair like I always did, noticing that it was still at the height that I left it at last time I was here.
Taking out my lunch and book—James Patterson's new novel—I opened both and continued to have my peaceful afternoon. I really couldn't think of anything better than peacefully reading your favorite book in a tranquil spot. Lunch would always go by too quickly if you'd ask me, that's why I always had to make the most of it, it was my time of the day to go without a single care in the world.
That was until a loud crash came from the side of the greenhouse.
Nearly jumping out of my skin I turned my attention to the now broken window. In the middle of the floor sat a soccer ball. I picked the ball up and brushed off some of the dirt. Now the source of the noise was discovered I looked around to find the culprit. I could feel the winter sun beaming down on my face as i peered out the now broken window. I could hear the outside world come flooding in, there were sounds of male voices were in the distant, they were yelling about something, probably about their now missing ball. How could they be so reckless, that was dangerous!
Snapping me out of my thoughts was a pill at the nursery-s door. A few seconds later, the last person I expected to walk through the door appeared. I could feel the heat creep onto my cheeks in surprise and embarrassment for a moment, as I knew I looked like a deer caught in headlights. The young man stood about six foot tall—broad shoulders were pushed back in a sophisticated posture while black onyx orbs stared straight at me with the most annoyed look on his face.
It was Sasuke Uchiha.
There was nothing said between us for a few seconds, just silence. For those few seconds I tried to gather myself. Sasuke was the most popular guy in our school and we had been in the same class for as long as I could remember but to my dismay we had never actually spoken to one another. Come to think of it, this was our first encounter ever.
Standing up straight I looked my classmate in the eye and tossed the dirty soccer ball his way, which he easily caught. This may be our first encounter but I wouldn't say it was a good one. I could feel a frown make its way across my face too.
"You got broken glass in the plants."
I looked over to my left where the broken window was a sure enough the little slivers of glass glinted from where the sunrays hit just right. I walked over to the display of plants and began to pick up the small shards and set the outside the fertilized area. All the while silence still hung in the air and I could feel Sasuke's eyes on my back, I did everything I could to focus on picking up the mess that had been made.
Seconds later I realized that I wasn't alone anymore, standing next to me was now the dawning Sasuke. Standing over a foot taller than me, I could really see how attractive he was. All the girls in school fawned over him and I can't say I was much different. His skin was ivory and hair jet black, he was someone who was very intelligent and very attractive… but someone like me…
A sharp pain tore through the tip of my middle finger and brought my thoughts back to reality. Immediately I dropped the object in my hand and looked down and the now throbbing wound. Red liquid flowed to the surface and dribbled down the hump of my finger and dropping into the Anemone flowers below.
Waves of stupidity overcame me, I was picking up glass; of course I'd end up cutting myself if I wasn't paying attention.
Palms facing up I focused on the red liquid slipping out of the tip of my finger, within another second, large ivory colored hands swooped down and engulfed my tiny wrist and palm. It took me a second to realize Sasuke's right hand had come up and grasped my own while pulling it closer to get a better look at it, thus brining my body a step closer. My breath hitched and I froze, all my attention was now focused on black hair and charcoal gray eyes.
He looked hard at my finger, I could see the muscles in his jaw tense as his look turned up into a glare, for a brief moment I thought I could see a flicker of red in his eyes. Then, no more than a second later those charcoal eyes darted a crossed my face and were no longer focused on my cut but were looking straight into my jade eyes. I could see his expression soften lightly.
Giving a small airy sigh, Sasuke gently let go of my hand and for a second the area he was holding went cold, I had clamed up. His right hand dropped back onto the wooden table below us as his gaze drifted from mine and back to the task at hand, picking up the glass shards. After picking up a few more glass pieces god-like features turned to me and spoke in a low tone, it sent a chill of bliss down my spine.
"Sakura, go to the infirmary and get a bandage."
Sasuke Uchiha knew my name?
This threw me through a loop. Although we had been in the same class for many years we had never spoke to one another, we didn't even have any mutual friends. Sasuke was higher up on the popularity scale than I was or ever would be for that matter and I was invisible to most of our schools population. I could feel my stomach fill up with butterflies and the heat that crept up to the middle of my face.
"Oh," I muttered to myself for a second trying to gather my jumbled thoughts. "Its not that bad, I'll be fine."
I could hear my heart begin to thump louder in my chest and wondered if Sasuke could hear it too. I normally wasn't nervous but there was something about his presence that shook me and made me question my own moves. Maybe it was his intense gaze? Or maybe it was his emotionless demeanor, whatever it was, it was also had a very captivating feeling.
There was a small scoff from the young Uchiha, tilting his head in my direction again I saw a small eye roll and his face went from focused to annoyed. Did I do that? His black hair trickled down his cheek and formed his face perfectly, pale skin darkened as he looked straight into my now stimulated eyes.
"Sakura. Go."
There was no room for arguing with a tone like his. It sounded more demanding than anything. I felt sheepish under his intense gaze. Something inside me wanted to protest but nonetheless, I gathered my belongings together with my left hand and picked up my green backpack and slung it over my left shoulder. Lunch was about to be over and if I was going to go now was the time.
"Right."
There was s softness in my voice that I had never heard before, I wasn't even sure that the man right next to me even heard me speak. Neither Sasuke nor I said anything else to each other as I walked to the front door of the green house and he continuously picked up the glass in the Anemone plant. Stopping at the door for a second, I though about saying something, anything, but nothing came to mind. Sliding the plastic door open again, I left.
