PROLOGUE
12 YEARS AGO
The Kyuubi stared at the giant toad, then to its true adversary, the shinobi standing atop it. Thoughts of bloodlust and rage raced through its mind, while the toad known as Gamabunta, simply licked out its tongue, revealing the many piercings along it.
"Now foul demon, it is time to end this!" said the blonde haired man. He began to pull off hand seals when another shinobi suddenly appeared at his side.
"No Minato, you must survive, your son still needs you. Just tell me where to place it, the rest of the plan I have already deciphered for myself." Said the second ninja
"No, it is my duty as Lord Hokage to defend this village. I will trap it inside of my son." Minato replied.
"Yes, but you will still be needed after this, the village will be in crisis, they need a leader, and I can think of no one better than you!" Sarutobi reasoned
"No, I cannot allow it, it must be me, now stand aside, our men cannot hold it much longer, and we are running out of time." Minato shot back
"I am but an old man; I do not have much time left here anyway. I'm sorry old friend." Sarutobi said, as he hit Minato at the top of the spine, rendering him unconscious.
Sarutobi began to use the same hand seals, forming a complex chain, then clapping his hands he enunciated "Sealing Jutsu – Reaper Death Seal!"
A pained howl echoed through the night sky, ending all other noise, as the Bujuin was hurled by an invisible force into the body of Minato's infant son, Naruto Namikaze. Where the beast once stood was now only represented by shattered landscape and shinobi corpses. Sarutobi fell to the ground as the seal completed, appearing on the infant's stomach, centering on his navel.
Minato awoke to find himself lying on the floor, he jumped to his feet and looked around, and many of the shinobi were gathered around him, looking down. He turned his eyes down and saw the lifeless body of his predecessor lying on the floor.
"Sarutobi you old fool, always a hero to the end, your sacrifice will not be forgotten." He said solemnly, he then turned to the ninja "Take the Third Hokage's body to the Hokage tower, then begin marking graves for our other fallen heroes, let none of them be forgotten."
With this he disappeared without notice, and reappeared beside his son. He took Naruto in his arms and wrapped him in his coat, walking slowly back to the village.
"My son, you are the greatest hero this day, you will bear the mark of this battle. It will set you aside from your peers, give you untold strength and power."
