Arthur was looking at the large rock in front of him. Merlin was standing by his side, a large smile on his face. Behind them stood his fellow knights.

"Only the Once and Future King can remove the sword from the stone," Merlin had told him. His words played over and over in his head. Was he really the Once and Future King? What if the sword remained stuck in the stone when he tried to remove it?

He continued to stare at the sword sticking out of the rock. From where he was standing, the sun was reflecting off of the blade. It was truly beautiful. He could tell just by looking at it that it was far superior to any blade he had ever handled.

He looked over at Merlin once again. His friend was still smiling, but his eyes were serious. Arthur could tell that his friend knew exactly what was going through his mind. His friend did not say anything to him. Instead, he just gave Arthur a reassuring look.

Taking a deep breath, Arthur took a step forward. He slowly walked towards the rock. When he finally reached it, he extended his arm towards the hilt of the magnificent blade. He hesitated a moment before finally making contact.

When his hand grasped the hilt, he felt a tingling sensation go throughout his body. The sword fit his grip perfectly, almost as if it had been made specifically for him. Taking another deep breath, he began to raise his arm. Somewhat surprised, the blade began to slide out of the rock. When it was finally free, Arthur brought the sword up to eye level.

It was a perfectly balanced blade, something that the young king knew right away. The edge of the sword was perfectly sharpened. A smile spread over his face as he held the beautiful sword.

Turning around, he saw a look of pride on the faces of his friends. He approached them and began speaking. "This sword is unlike any other sword before it. With it, I will protect Camelot to the fullest extent of my abilities. With it, I will bring justice to the lands."

Once finished, he raised his sword high into the sky. Around him, his fellow knights cried out, "For Camelot!" Arthur opened his mouth to join his knights, but something happened. As he was looking at his new sword, the blade suddenly fell off and landed at his feet.

The shouts of his knights ended abruptly and everything went deathly quiet. In front of him, Merlin said, "The dragon is going to kill me."

All Arthur could think about was that his magnificent sword was now lying broken at his feet.
