Chapter 1: A New Beginning
Forget-me-Not Valley is a peaceful place. You can go fishing, go to the local bar, and even have a farm. The air in the Valley is pretty clean, so a lot of folks come here whenever they have health issues.
There's a guy that works at Vesta's farm, Marlin. He came to the Valley to work with his sister, as he couldn't keep his work at the city due to his fragile state of health. He never thought it would take this long for him to get better, as he is not improving a lot with his condition.
My name is Jack. I moved to the Valley after some incidents I had in Mineral Town. My health was so bad… It's been about three years since Gray and I broke up; but I'm feeling better now.
Today I decided to visit Marlin and actually talk to him. Usually, when it's rainy like today, he stays inside their house.
"Hey…" He greeted quietly. "Sorry, but Celia is upstairs sleeping… Vesta is looking after Celia right now… If you want to meet with Celia or Vesta, please come other time…"
"I-I came to see you… Do you want to talk?" I felt a little nervous, but not in a bad way. It was the kind of nervous that you feel whenever you are talking to someone that you like.
"Talk with me?" He was nervous too "I don't really have anything to talk to you about…"
After an awkward silence between us, I decided to ask him something to break the ice.
"Well… What kind of food do you like?"
"…Why do you ask me that Jack?"
"Because I want to… I would like to talk to you about lots of things, and food seemed like an appropriate theme for our first chat"
"Well, whatever… Yeah…" He started to think a little "What's my favourite food? I never do have a good answer for that…" He gulped. "My favourite food is…"
Vesta came downstairs and scared both of us as she greeted me as loudly as she could.
"Oh, Jack! You're here!" She laughed even louder than how she talks "You and Marlin together? That's unexpected! What were you talking about?"
Marlin and I blushed.
"Jack, this conversation is over" he mumbled quietly to me "nothing really… It was no big deal…" He smiled coyly "M-More importantly! How is Celia feeling?"
"Well, it's no big deal. She's just worn out. I think she will wake up soon."
"Oh, I see. I hope so…"
The situation was a little awkward, so I did the most mature thing I could think in that moment.
"So, I'm leaving"
I turned around and left the house. I gave some steps before hearing the door opening again.
"Jack!"
"Yes?" it was Marlin again.
"My favourite food is Elli Leaves, and I like Rice cake too!" He smirked. "Let's talk again sometime…"
"Sure!" I gave him the biggest smile I could. "I'll make sure to remember"
