Percy was heading back to his cabin. He just had an amazing day with his Wise Girl. They had spent the day at the beach, with Annabeth splashing him and he moving the water to douse her for hours.
Her face was imprinted in his mind; her curls, her startling grey eyes that could terrify or calm you, her lips, her cheeks, everything about her.
Percy could hear her laugh echoing. Oh how he loved that laugh. He could hear it ringing. First the little giggle, then the head tilt, then the watery eyes. He thought she looked beautiful, even while laughing.
He loved Annabeth so much. They had only been "officially" dating for a few months, but Percy knew he loved her. He knew he wanted to spend his life with her.
He was almost back to his cabin. He liked his cabin, but he didn't like being alone. He was lonely a lot with no one to turn to at night, no one to see.
He walked up onto the porch, hearing the echo of the wood as he stepped. He placed his hand on the doorknob and opened the door.
He saw his cabin, messy, as usual. He got into his pyjamas, and went to the washroom.
He did he evening ritual of leaving the water on and making animals while he brushed his teeth. It always made him smile.
Usually, he made lots of different animals, but tonight, the only thing he seemed to make was an owl.
After brushing his teeth, he reached to open the door, but saw a bright light come out from the crack under the door.
"Hello?" He asked uncertainty. He opened the door and saw Hera, the goddess of marriage, standing in his cabin.
Her long hair was tied up into a bun, and she was wearing an Ancient Greek style dress.
Percy put his knee to the floor and bowed, "Lady Hera. What brings you here?"
Hera spoke, "I have a task for you. You have no say in whether you go, so do not argue. A war is coming. Gaea, the Earth Mother, is slowly waking from her slumber. Her children, the giants are trying to wake her, and destroy Olympus."
"What?" Percy asked. "First Kronos, now this?"
"Don't interrupt me, boy." Hera spat. "I have a plan. For years we have kept you hidden from each other, but now, I think it is time. There is another camp. A Roman one, specifically."
"What?!" Percy shouted. "You mean-there's-that's-then-WHAT?"
"I will explain if you let me!" Hera said, angrily. "We kept you hidden from each other so you wouldn't attack each other, but I must bring you together. You will go there, and I will bring one of them here. I will unite the camps and that way, we can defeat Gaea."
"Who said I was ok with this?" Percy said. "I don't want to leave Annabeth!"
"You have no choice! It must be done. I also must erase your memories"
"WHAT?" Percy yelled.
"Hush, child. I'm sorry it must be done. I can't have the Romans figure out who you are, or you attack them."
"I thought I was done with this stuff," Percy sighed.
"I will give you a benefit though. You are allowed to have one memory. A small one, like a person, or your house. Not anything that will reveal you, though."
Percy thought for a moment and then decided. There was no other memory he would choose over this.
"Annabeth."
