Title: But he had an extra jacket anyway, just in case

Summary:She alwasy forgot the small stuff...like dressing for the cold.

Disclaimer: I do not own Rikku, Gippal, or anything relating to Final Fantasy X-2. Which is a shame, cause I'd totally have had them make out a few times.

It wasn't like she normally minded the cold. Quite the opposite really. Years under the desert sun made any ounce of cool weather something to be sought after. And with warming spells and cute jackets, she could deal with anything Macalania, or any other perpetual winter area of Spira, threw at her.

It was the unexpected cold that bothered her.

And, yeah, yeah, she knew that most places in Spira had weather changes and she really should have thought things through a bit when she went to Djose wearing practically nothing for the Annual Day of Peace celebration. Problem was, she'd actually kinda forgotten that whole Djose-has-a-winter-season bit. The last two annual D.O.P. celebration days she'd actually spent in the air or on a giant boat in the middle of the ocean. And the ocean was always cold and she readily controlled the climate of the airship (whatever Brother might complain about it).

So there she went, showing up in the middle of Djose's winter wearing nothing but her desert wear.

And Gippal! He'd thought it was hilarious. He'd refused to donate so much as a jacket to help his poor shivering girl. Told her she should learn her lesson, confirming that, no matter how important he was in the eyes of the world, he was still a big fat meanie twelve-year-old on the inside.

"I'm COLD!"

"Stop complaining, Cid's girl. Focus on the fireworks."

She tried. Again. They really were spectacular fireworks. The Machine Faction had spent the better part of the past month setting them up. They'd even wrangled Yuna and Tidus out of Besaid for the show (both of whom had shown up in full winter regalia). In fact, most of their friends had come, excited to see the show reflected in the depths of the Moonflow.

Still, bare skin made for a hearty distraction.

"It's too cold!"

He leered at her bare skin for a moment before shrugging in apparent nonchalance.

"You don't see me bundled up and I'm not complaining."

"Gippal! Your normal body temperature is slightly cooler than the sands of the Sanubian desert at high noon! Of

course you aren't cold!"

"It's not that cold, Cid's girl."

She narrowed her eyes.

"The entire place is covered in ice and frost patterns."

He grinned at her, completely unsympathetic.

"Fine! I'm going to go back to my airship and watch the show from there, you big meanie!"

Before she could even stand completely up, she found herself thrown over his lap and cradled in the crook of his arm looking directly into his good eye.

"How 'bout I warm you up?"

A slow grin spread over her features and suddenly all thoughts of cold and the still amazing fireworks display behind her faded from mind.

"Now why didn't you think of that hours ago?"
