Dark, slender hands carefully cupped the small bloom. Long fingers caressed the soft petals with a mother's touch. Ororo smiled. This particular rosebush had endured an immensely hard beginning but, with her love and care, was finally beginning to blossom. It reminded her of another who needed her love desperately and blessed her in turn with her love.

Her smile grew with an idea. The two were perfect for each other, and her love would adore this beautiful flower, almost as much as Ororo herself did. She would never tear a flower from Mother Nature to give it to another, but there was another way.

The next day, Ororo implemented her plan, leading Kitty by hand to her special place in Xavier's gardens where her flowers were no longer condemned to hanging baskets or manmade pots. They grew wild and beautiful. There was one in particular far lovelier than all the rest, just as her Kitten was the loveliest woman she'd ever known by far.

She wanted to surprise her, but a Weather Witch had no need of blindfolds. She hid the plant itself instead until Kitty turned and spotted the mist. "What's that, Ororo?" she asked. Slowly, the mist peeled away. Kitty gasped at the beauty that was revealed.

"I always name my flowers, Kitten, and this one I am naming Katheryne for it reminds me of you. Its beauty pales only in comparison to one: your own."

Laughing, Kitty turned and covered her woman in hugs and passionate kisses.
