In the city of New York within one of the tall buildings stretching up into the sky, a woman dressed in red was sitting behind a desk watching the sun sink towards the horizon. Eyeing the setting sun one last time she stood up from her seat and moved towards the door. "Candace." The woman called out through the doorway of her office at Nightstone Unlimited. Dominique Destine, owner, and CEO stood there dressed in her usual ensemble, a red jacket with matching skirt, pumps and a white shirt under her suit.
"Yes, Ms. Destine?" Candace asked looking up from her stacks of paperwork. She was just finishing up filing her reports and going over multiple reviews for the day.
"Before you leave, make sure all the other employees on this floor have gone home," Dominique commanded before turning back into her office. She had things she needed to do tonight and she did not want to have to worry about being seen or heard by an employee again. It had happened once before when a maintenance worker had seen her through the doorway of her office. Of course, she had quickly gotten rid of the night janitor before he could process what he had just seen.
Tonight she was going to continue putting together her latest creation, a project that she had been working on for some time now. Then she was going to go for a relaxing glide through the cool night air to relax. As she made her way into her secret office, connected to her main office via a hidden door, she underwent her nightly transformation. Moving through the room she thought about any last minute additions she might need to make to her new toy.
On the table in front of her were copies of her plans, blueprints, notes, books and other things she had compiled for this project. Her last attempt to create a clan of her own had been met with less than desirable results. With their inferior intelligence, she now realized that her clones had only had the upper hand while they had the element of surprise. Once they had lost that, they had nothing left in their corner other than her and Thailog. However, when he had made a move to harm her daughter despite her specific instructions, she knew that it was all a failure.
Her new idea was promising, however. If all went right she could fulfill two of her agendas. Having herself a new clan and a way to rid herself of annoying humans. What she had come up with was a mixture of magic, science, and technology. With her latest test results, she believed it was almost ready for a human test subject. She just had to find a way to ensure their total loyalty and she would be ready.
After going over everything once again and progressing further in her preparations, she moved to her balcony window and set off into the night. She had no destination in mind, she just glided through the air. The cool wind on her skin helped her to think clearly and she was soon thinking of ways to complete her project. Unknown to her the night was about to spring a surprise on her.
Alexa Pearson was walking home from working late at The Chrome Bar and Grill. She worked as a server there making minimum wage for 9-hour shifts. After work, she had changed out of her uniform and left it in her cubby at work. She was 16, but she was able to pass herself off as 18 to get a job. and dressed in a red tank top with her favorite dark denim jacket that had 'Alexa' written across the shoulders. She had matching denim jeans that said 'Wild' on either side running down her thighs. She had on blue and white sneakers with red accents as well.
As she was walking back to her apartment, she noticed that one of the patrons from the bar follow her from work. She recognized him as one who had been giving her trouble all week. She quickened her steps as she hurried on her way home. After every turn she made, Alexa tried to subtly look back and saw that the man was still following her. Not wanting to lead him to where she lived she turned down an alleyway, hoping to either lose him in the dark or scare him off. If she couldn't get away from him by any other means she always had her last resort something that she had had ever since an accident as a child. She didn't like using it because of how little she understood about it and she had told no one about it in fear of what they might say or do.
Demona was gliding through the night sky, enjoying the tranquility she often did without. As she went over an abandoned alleyway she glanced down and noticed a couple of scurrying forms. Intrigued, she landed on a nearby roof and looked down upon the scene taking place below. She was disgusted by what she saw. Running through the street was a young girl. Behind her was a drunken man, stumbling along like the neanderthal that she was sure that he was. This was one of the many reasons she had for hating humanity, you don't see this kind of thing in her species. Gargoyles would never stoop so low.
"S-stay back! I'm warning you! I-I don't want to hurt you, but I will!" The girl shouted at the man as she found herself backed up against a wall. The man just continued to leer at her and ignored the warning.
"L-last chance!" The girl said again, getting herself into a stance the Demona didn't recognize. By now Demona was considering helping the girl, but she wanted to see if she could deliver on her threat. The young one seemed to have some idea of what she was doing.
"Yeah right! Like I'm gonna be scared of you!" The man slurred in reply, getting closer. "Besides, I just wanna get to know ya better is all." The look in his eyes, however, told the truth. They seemed to be locked onto her chest.
"You should be." The girl responded in a deadly serious tone, taking offense at the obvious ogling.
Without any further banter, the girl raised her hand and shouted as a ball of green energy* shot out from her arm towards the man. The man barely had time to say "Fuck" before he was flung backward into a wall and fell beside a dumpster unmoving. The girl crept over to the man to check on him with a fist cocked back ready to strike.
After checking his pulse and making sure his only wounds were some minor burns and a bad knock to the back of his head. With a shake of her head, she began walking off back the way they had come. Intrigued by her performance Demona followed her, after all, it's not every night that you see a girl shoot green energy out of her hands.
