Ana Lewis watches the television provided as the president announces the death of the GI Joes.
The former (and technically still due to France not having ID'd her and the Joes not rating her out since the nanomites in her system were influencing her actions) Baroness eels the tears fall down her face. She's not sure entirely what's going on, McCullen hadn't exactly informed her of every plan he and cobra were working on, not to mention Rex was a curveball she'd never seen, but she was sure Cobra was somehow involved in framing the Joes.
She'd fought against them and knew they wouldn't do what the president had accused them of. The fact the president mentioned Cobra, albeit as another Special Forces group, only confirmed her suspicions.
She just prayed Duke managed to escape.

As the large Joe known as Roadblock walked away, Ana could feel the silent tears trail down her face as she was escorted back to her secure room.
Duke had apparently spoke of her, and his visits often. She was apparently listed as his next of kin, and the Joe had come to tell her the fate of boyfriend in person. He told her about Zartan posing as the president, the assault on their camp, the betrayal of Storm Shadow, and the plot with the Zeus weapon system.
As she finally sat down on her bed, her eyes hardened.
Rex…no, Cobra Commander had managed to escape. He was the cause of all this.
If he hadn't faked his death, Duke wouldn't have been too racked with guilt to see her, she wouldn't have been crippled with grief. Hell, she wouldn't have even been targeted with the damn nanomites if it wasn't for her connection to Rex.

And now, Cobra Commander's machinations had killed Duke.
And she would make him pay.

The next morning, there was no sign of the Baroness DeCobray. And the device developed to block signals to her nanomites was gone.

Hope you enjoyed. After watching both movies, and looking at the fanfiction, I couldn't find any on the Baroness' reaction to Duke's death, which honestly surprised me. Hell, I was surprised at the lack of Baroness Stories, she's my favorite character (at least in the first movie). Anyway…I'm hoping this inspires others to post Baroness stories.
