I don't own PJO. Sorry if the dialogue in the beginning doesn't match the book. I only read it once and I just went by memory. Hope you enjoy it!

"Where's Charlie?" She asked, scanning the faces of the crowd. Her heart skidded to a stop, matching its beat to the silence of the campers. They didn't need to tell her. Their expressions said it all.

"Silena, I'm sorry." Percy stuttered, but he refused to meet her desperate expression. Annabeth looked up, a mixture of joy and sadness in her eyes. Percy was home. Percy had made it. Annabeth was the lucky one, not her.

She felt a strong arm around her shoulders, gently leading her away from the pavilion. How could this have happened? He was always so careful on quests. It couldn't be true. They must be lying. That's it. They're lying. This is all some sick prank they're playing.

She wrestled out of Clarisse's hold and ran for the forges, letting the wind dry her tears.

The forges were empty. Everyone was gone so they could congratulate Percy on his safe return. New swords lay cooling on racks. Anvils, hammers, and leather aprons were shoved to the side, clearing a path near the dying flames.

She turned to the left, finding the bucket of water kept for emergencies exactly where it always was. She tossed it over the flames, turning away from the hissing and cracking of the reaction so she could fish in her pocket for a drachma. Once she found one, she tossed it through the steam, watching as it disappeared.

"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, accept my offering. Charles Beckendorf."

"We're sorry. The name you are trying to reach is no longer in service. Please check the name and try again." The mist was disrupted by a horseshoe chucked in its direction followed by a cry of anger.

Silena sank to the floor, her head in her hands, and cried.

He was not coming back.

Never coming back.

Charlie was dead, and she could blame Percy. She could blame Luke. Cronus. Maybe even blame Charlie himself.

But Silena knew exactly who was at fault, and that made the ache in her heart even worse as she fumbled with the necklace hidden under her shirt.

Please review! No flames. If you don't like it, tell me why you don't like it, not that I should go die in a hole :) I hate people who do that.

But if you DO like it, please let me know :)
