Title: After-Effects

Notes: Rated G. Tiny spoiler for Ch 37.
Summary: Raito notices a change.
He stares at the computer screen and sees his father standing behind him, glasses clear and eyes gazing upon the spot where Raito's reflection will be. He looks above his father without looking behind, keeping his head straight. Does L still notice, and he sees blurry, illegible figures floating about in the air.
Raito casually turns to the side, keeping the chain from clinking while reaching for another consomme-flavored chip (Raito feels something laugh deep within his heart, recalling something he does not remember), hoping to ease his curiosity.
L glances at Raito, calculating every action and movement (I see you, Kira) with a mind that seems (is) faster than light. Raito glances at L, too; he sees more figures hanging high and tries to decipher their meaning (Raito must figure them out now). He blinks, slowly, and they are gone.

What inspired this? Well, we all wonder what happens to a user of a Death Note. Usually, we think that the effects will come after the user's death (e.g. becoming a shinigami). In this drabble, I had the effects appear while they are living.
