Hello! Again, look at this logically, why would I be writing fanfiction if I owned HP? Warning, this is a Remus/Sirius, and, just like with the Harry/Ron fics, I just think Remus/Sirius fics are really sweet. If you like multi-chapter fics, don't read this, 'cuz so far I just write quick, short bits of fluff.
Remus halted at the top of the hill, catching his breath as his eyes searched the grounds before him. His gaze passed over a tree by the lake; he paused and glanced back towards the trunk. Remus sighed, thinking back over the past few minutes that had led to Sirius running from him.
They gazed into each other's eyes. Sirius drew closer to Remus as though he were being pulled, when his hand swept forward, brushing Remus' fingers. The light touch seemed to snap Sirius out of whatever trance he'd been in. He glanced down, looking ashamed and resigned, and Remus saw his fists clench, knuckles going white. Sirius' eyes closed, and Remus though he saw the glint of a tear through his lashes before Sirius whispered, "I'm sorry," in a half-sob and rose fleetingly, hands flying up to cover his face as he ran. Remus sat, frozen on the grass, for only a moment before rising himself, one thought replaying itself in his head.
Did we almost kiss? He felt a pleased blush creep up his cheeks with surprise as he jogged up the hill toward the lake.Remus sighed again and walked down the slope towards the tree, the heart-rending sobs that drifted up to his ears from the bent figure on the ground tearing at him. He speeded up to a run, finally reaching Sirius. He stood there awkwardly, unsure of whether to alert Sirius to his presence. Finally Remus knelt, reaching out with a trembling hand to gently touch a shaking shoulder. Sirius' back stiffened and he rolled over, sitting up and gazing with surprise and wide eyes at Remus. As soon as he realized who it was, he turned his face down again. "Sirius?" Sirius didn't move. "Please, tell me, what is it?" Remus whispered, voice wavering as much as the hesitant fingers he was stretching out toward Sirius. He leaned forward and slid his hand around the warm, wet-with-tears curve of Sirius' cheek. He watched Sirius' eyes widen again, and Sirius turned his face back toward Remus.
"Oh, Re, I'm sorry. I just couldn't stop myse-" He halted suddenly, as though he had just realized what he'd said and was looking everywhere but at Remus' face. Remus himself felt his heart beating faster. Does he - could he - mean it?
"Couldn't stop yourself? What," Remus swallowed, "what do you mean?" he continued in a soft murmur. Sirius didn't seem to be able to look into his eyes.
"I . . . um, what I meant was, well, you were so close, I just . . ." Sirius let his voice trail off, but he met Remus' eyes at last. Remus deliberately moved closer to Sirius, twining his fingers into Sirius'. Sirius looked surprised as he gazed down at their interwoven hands.
"Remus . . ." Sirius breathed. "Remus, what are you . . ." He never finished his question. After all, it's hard to talk while kissing.
Review if ya feel like it, I don't mind either way, I just write 'cuz I wanna write.
