Well, I feel like this song describes Azula's tale from when we first met her to the point in Sozin's Comet when she gets to be Firelord very well…so here goes!

Azula had hidden in the castle for years, just waiting for Zuko to fail miserably, and disappoint her father, so SHE could emerge and show her father what a winner can do.

Zuko was a failure, and she wanted him out of the way…she had to bide her time…

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
Azula had gotten out of that castle! She was free! She was to hunt down the Avatar. That was her goal. But she was losing track of what was surrounding her. Who was winning the war? Did Zuko or her father perhaps get assassinated? Was his scar any worse? Why is that village so crummy?

It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger
Azula LIVED for fights. She'd trained for years to master firebending, traveling at night and fighting whoever stood in her way. The avatar was her challenge, her goal. As she was passing by villages, she was told she had eyes similar to a tiger's. A tiger. Huh. She liked that. It made her sound like a predator, a creature of terror. That's what she was, wasn't she? A predator?

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive
Azula was roughing it. She had no friends, now that Mai and Ty Lee had deserted her. The Boiling Rock was SO hot. She loved it. She, while she tried to sleep and stay alert for the wild animals, planned to demolish the prison in a few years, when she was Firelord, along with all the prisoners. She would build a summer home for herself there.

That is what I should be thinking about, Azula thought. Not Mai and Ty Lee. Anything but Mai and Ty Lee…

Her eyes glimmered with strategic insanity. Everybody thought she had evil eyes, beautiful eyes. Eyes of the tiger when it plans how to snag a sheep. How to snag the avatar from behind his friends' back.

Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
Azula was the Firelord! She'd (partially) defeated the avatar, and now she was FIRELORD! Her coronation was soon! But, Azula thought, as her hair was combed out, she wasn't going to stop now, after all that work! She was going to become the ruler of all Four Nations! The World! The Universe!

Even in insanity, she had the strategic, insane eyes that had sparkled ferociously during her final battle with Zuko. She stared at passerby from her cell with a hungry look in her eyes. She looked like she was planning, like she wouldn't stop scheming until she was free again. A passing man said,

"She's got the eyes of a tiger about to murder its prey."

How right he was. She wouldn't stop until she got out of her cell.
