*prompt: Gigi and Lydia are room mates and they give each other a movication*
Guys, I take prompts! PM me :)
"Gi, you in?" Lydia shouted as she shut the front door and dropped her heavy work bag on the floor
"In here!" Came the call from the living room
Lydia rushed in to impart important gossip to her BFF, when the TV rooted her to the spot next to the sofa.
"Moulin Rouge?" Lydia questioned
"Yeah, wanna watch it with me? I have no issue in rewinding and watching it again"
"I'm good" Lydia went to spin on her heels and leave.
Gigi pressed pause on the remote, and stood to follow Lydia.
Both women came to a stop in the kitchen. Gigi leant across the breakfast bar while Lydia opened the fridge.
"Lydia, have you seen Moulin Rouge?"
"I've seen bits of it over Lizzie and Jane's shoulders when we all lived at home, but no, I haven't, why?"
"Oh dear god. Open the pantry and get some popcorn out, get it in the microwave, and march your tiny little butt to the sofa"
"Really?"
"Really."
Ten minutes later, Gigi was pressing rewind on the DVD remote, and moving a box of tissues closer to Lydia.
Lydia looked at the offending box.
"Really." She stated bluntly.
"Really" was all Gigi said before pressing play.
Lydia was mopping up the last stray tears from her face, and turned her head to see Gigi beaming at her.
"What are you grinning at Darcy?"
"You. You liked it."
Lydia sighed in defeat.
"Yes, fine, I liked it, although your singing drowned out Ewan McGregor, which should be out lawed, because he is a beautiful man with a beautiful voice, and you sound like a cat being strangled"
"Thanks bestie" Gigi giggled like a six year old
"My turn now"
Gigi looked thoroughly confused. Lydia continued.
"Assuming Moulin Rouge is your favourite movie musical, it is only fair that I subject you to mine, which is far more sad, and yet happy at the same time, and I know you haven't seen"
Gigi now looked at Lydia in anticipation.
"Gigi, get more tissues, and more popcorn, prepare for my singing, and get yourself ready for RENT"
"Wow" was all the escaped Gigi's mouth as Lydia warbled out the final notes of Finale B.
"I told you, sad and yet happy at the same time, realistic and yet completely impossible, a film of the uncertainties involved in a life of complications, I love it"
Gigi impersonated a fish as she struggled for something to say. Lydia laughed at her, and continued her spiel.
"Before it went to Broadway, RENT was at the New York Theatre Workshop. It is the ninth longest running Broadway show, and they had an amazing lottery system for seats, continuing the vision of the creator that everyone should be able to enjoy theatre if they wanted to. But the saddest thing, that makes the story even more real for the people who love it, is that the creator didn't live to even see the off-Broadway previews, he died suddenly the night before they began, and he never saw his success and legacy"
"You win"
"What?"
"Saddest film. You win, even without the back story."
Lydia smiled.
"Can we do this again tomorrow? Give each other a movication? Although, no more sad films?" Gigi asked
"Agreed" said Lydia.
