Something To Be Thankful For…
By HPFangirl71
Just after the war ended, they had run away together in an attempt to hide from those who loved them. They had run away out of the fear of disappointing and shaming their families. They were in love and only wanted to be together, so to America they had fled. Embracing a new country and culture with open arms.
Today in America it was Thanksgiving, a day to be thankful. To be thankful for friends and family. To appreciate your good health and good fortune. A chance to look back upon the year and reflect on the good that had smiled down upon you. A day to just be thankful you were alive.
Harry Potter was quite thankful for his good fortune. The good fortune to wake up next to the man he loved more than life itself. He was thankful for alabaster skin that wished to be touched and caressed by his hands. He was thankful for haunting grey eyes that pleaded with him to never leave. He was thankful for pale blonde hair that framed the face of an angel. He could also appreciate how much he'd given up to possess such a fallen angel. So much so that he could even be thankful for that sexy smirk that made him come undone and forget exactly who he had once been. Yes Harry was thankful for many things but mostly he was thankful for finally realizing how badly he had needed Draco in his life. He was the one thing in Harry's world that made all his sacrifices worth it.
Likewise, Draco too was thankful today. Thankful for a man who drove him over the edge every time he saw him. Thankful for messy brown locks that were usually in his face when he awoke each morning holding Harry in his arms. He could appreciate the deep love and acceptance that he saw within the deep green orbs. Harry understood him as no one else had or could for that matter. He was thankful that Harry ignored the deep red scars upon his forearm that were the remains of his feeble attempt to rid himself of the Dark Mark. Their were deeper scars that he'd only shown to this man that he loved and Draco could appreciate that slowly those scars were healing. Harry's love was what had caused such healing within Draco's soul and that was why Draco was most thankful to have finally realized how much he truly loved the great Harry Potter.
Together here in America, in their own little corner of the world they had built a life together. A life that finally had meaning. They had once been enemies but now they were lovers, brought together by fate. Somehow they had learned that there is a fine line between love and hate. It was the one thing they were both most thankful for today.
