When they finally break apart, the clouds are no longer a brilliant pink, but a deep purple. Both of them are suddenly aware of the chill of the early autumn air.

"...Wow."

Aang's face is flushed, but his grin is one of the biggest Katara has ever seen him wear.

As they turn to watch the last tendrils of sunlight retreat beneath Ba Sing Se's walls, Aang rests his head on Katara's shoulder.

"Hey, Katara?"

"Hmm?"

"Will you go penguin sledding with me again?"

In that moment, it hits her. How much they've been through together, how much has changed in only a year. How much they've survived. Inexplicably, she feels like crying.

She laughs instead, and hugs him closer.

"It's a date."
