District 2 wasn't the most luxurious district, not even the largest one. Many thought they came as a second choice behind Capitol's lap dogs, District 1. So why they were the most popular over Capitol? The answer is simple. There they were loyal. Loyal to the ultimate celebration, the Hunger Games. To the utmost sacrifice and honor of dying for their beloved Panem. Because they were soldiers. Hundreds and hundreds of strong and honorable Peacekeepers left the district to make sure that by every means possible everything remained under control in the nation. Because the old rebel families and their descedants were the laugh of the town, treated as insects by all the other citizens, living the life traitors deserved. Because they didn't provide shallow, pretty victors but fighters. Trained since the begining of their lives, unshakeable by people's memory, every one of them for a different reason. Because they couldn't cope with injustice, cowardice or inaction.

So why should District 2 take part in the rebellion with the same rebels they mocked an entire life? Well maybe because everything wasn't that utopic

Maybe because every generation was more vacant than the previous one. Every child in 2 had only one goal, to win the Games and any talent besides throwing knives or using spears was ignored. It didn't matter if you were great in camouflage, 2 had a certain tribute profile and that certainly didn't include painting flowers in your arms. Because every kid who showed any kind of ''dissability'' to maintain training went back in home, stained forever as useless and unworthy. Or maybe because crime rate rose sharply over the years as did angered teens who ''showed off'' in the streets. Because they were victors like Brutus who turned their back in the district and enjoyed the glamorous life Capitol offered and then they were those like Enobaria who thought their crown ment they could rule the District. Because they were raised to be ruthless, full of anger even on things they didn't fully understand. They were raised to be numb, empty minded and bloodthirsty.

Many years passed until District 2 saw the truth and still until the very last moment not all of them accepted it. They were brainwashed, they believed they sent their kids to glory when half of them were killed(the odds weren't always in their favor) and half returned as completly different people. Many years passed until a certain fire lit in front of their eyes and opened them. And finally the majority of District 2, those who truly craved for a united nation without bloodlust, burnt its false world on the ground.
