A KakuSaku One shot! But may become more if I get enough reviews! This is my first story since making a come back and deciding to try harder :)

The moon reflected in her eyes, making them shine like her smile for him. Pink strands of hair framed her face delicately, a contrast to circular emeralds that seemed to smirk in the dark of the night. If only she could know that he wasn't just the quite type, but that she had stunned him silent with the pale white kimono that clung to her frame, the stem to the petals that he wished to pull away, so that he could smell her scent.

"It's cold… maybe you should go back inside Sakura" he whispered, his breath becoming a fog only to float in the air before dispersing.

"Or maybe you should keep me warm?" she smiled slightly and moved closer, her arms encircling his neck, not to strangle as many had done before but to offer what he needed, a sense safety. A rarity in the life of a ninja. His arms replied and held her close, not wanting to let go. "Do you think we could just stay here?" she whispered into his ear. "We have to, at least for the next few days".

"You know that's not what I meant, I'm not talking about the mission"

He went silent.

"Kakashi… do you think we'll ever be able to settle down?" a quiet type of desperation entering her normally confident voice. It unnerved him. This wasn't like her, he fists had tensed as her head bowed, her eyes darkening. "Do you think we'll ever be able to be honest with the people we love?" her voice wavered just as his heart did.

His finger traced her jawline and stopped under her chin, gently he pulled it up and looked her in the eyes. "Sakura, you know as well as I do that they won't accept this. As far as they're concerned we accepted this mission together to learn to work together as equals and not sensei and student, not to get away from hiding this from those we love"

She tore herself away roughly. "Exactly! As equals. We're equals now, we're both adults, shinobi, members of the village. We're both human, Kakashi. Why can't we at least try? Maybe they'll understand?" she was cut off as he shushed her. "Dear, I want to as well but you have to think clearly. They won't understand. You know that they won't understand."

Then, for the first time in the three years since their love formed, he saw her cry.

He held her as she wept, murmuring comforting words but far too selfish to let her go. He was Kakashi Hatake, The Copy Cat Ninja. He took, he didn't give. Yet somehow deep inside himself he felt that maybe, just maybe, he wasn't doing what was right. Kakashi stepped back from her and bent down to look at her, his eyes softening. "You don't have to stand by me if you don't want to. I'll understand"

She froze, then after a few agonizing seconds, she stood. Resolve in her eyes. "Don't you dare" she hissed at him. "Don't you dare play mind games with me, you know what I want" and for a moment he felt scared. He laughed "Little blossom! I was just trying to let you understand. I don't want you to hurt" holding her again he waited for her response.

"I don't take kindly to jokes"

"Maybe I wasn't joking?"

"Maybe you should shut up and kiss me?"

"Maybe I should"

and in the chilly air of a foreign town, a slight kiss was shared between a love that longed for stability on top of a hotel balcony. The moon glistened in their eyes as the woman smiled, knowledge was passed without words.

They were oblivious to the shocked eyes glaring at them from the bushes below, stuck in a world of their own.

Or maybe-

"Let's go inside" the man whispered, his arms looping around her waist as they left the cold night.

Or maybe, they just didn't care anymore.
