One day, Maddie was walking down the street with Kate. Kate was currently with Castle, and she just wanted happiness herself.
"Tom Demming?" Kate said to an attractive man on the street.
He had brown hair and blue eyes, and he was wearing a suit.
"Kate Beckett! Hey!" He smiled. "I haven't seen you in a while. Since that one summer. Still with Castle?"
"We..ah..weren't at the time, but are now, so…yes?"
The mention of the summer and Castle created an awkward moment between them, which Kate interrupted by introducing her friend.
"I'm sorry, this is my friend, Madison." Maddie shook Tom's hand.
"I go by Maddie."
"Nice to meet you. I'd love to chat more, but I have to get to a case. You and you friend here should definitely call me." He walked away, giving Maddie a once over and a wink.
"He's still apparently got it." Kate commented, shaking her head. "If 'it' is being a flirt.."
"I dunno. He seems just fine to me…" Maddie smiled. She was definitely asking Kate to get her that man's number later.

She and Tom Demming had become boyfriend and girlfriend. With her business, she'd never thought she'd be able to find a guy who would agree with her schedule. Because Tom was a detective, he knew of the rough hours one could spend working.
She'd thanked Kate a million times over, even though it was just chance.
Who knew they'd both known Kate this whole time?
She was surprisingly okay with Tom being an ex of Kate's, because whatever happened between the two of them was fizzled out by Castle.
That's why she was staring at the expensive looking invitation in front of her.
"What's that, Mads?" Tom said, resting his head on her shoulder to read and wrapping his arms around her middle.
"Apparently we're invited to a certain wedding. Well, it's no surprise, is it?"
"She was hooked onto him before she even realized it. When she ended things with me, I just knew it was for Castle."
"Does it make you think? What if he wasn't there at the time?"
"No, because then I probably wouldn't have met you. I know, cheesy, but I'm a bit of a master at that."
She laughed lightly and kissed his cheek. "It should be fun."

Maybe they weren't Castle and Beckett, Ryan and Jenny, or even Esposito and Lanie, but they were something. Something she wasn't even sure would have happened without Kate Beckett and Rick Castle.

There is just so little to work with with this pairing, but me and some girls on Tumblr throught we should at least give it SOMETHING. I figured hooking them on the fact that Castle and Beckett are together helped them meet maybe.
