Well, I just re-watched DNote for the 5th time, and I felt that I needed to write some fluff for these 3 successors (hence the title)
I don't own Death Note
Matt: 12
Mello: 13
Near: 8
Mello sighed as he laid on his bed,
'Another day of nothing,' he thought bitterly, looking out the window. Soon enough though, Matt came in, eyes glued to his Gameboy as he sat next to the blonde, leaning on his legs,
"Hey Mells," he greeted, moving his goggles up onto his head so he could see his friend better. Mello nodded, grabbing his book off of his nightstand and beginning to read, brushing away his bangs. Matt was just about to beat the boss, until Mello let out a string of curses. Pausing his game, he looked over, "What's wrong?" he asked. Mello growled,
"My stupid bangs keep getting in my way." Matt's eyes lit up,
"That's why I came here!" he grinned, setting his game down and digging around in his pocket before pulling out a silver barrette. Mello looked at it,
"Where'd you get that?" he asked, taking it and pinning his hair back. Matt shrugged,
"I heard you complaining while you were studying last night, so I asked Linda. Mello offered him a small smile,
"Thanks Matt." Matt grinned, hugging Mello's leg,
"No problem!" They both looked over when their door opened, revealing the 8 year old Near holding his blue plane. "Hey Near," Matt smiled at the young one.
Near nodded, shuffling over and trying to get up onto the bed, eventually having to have Mello pick him up and set him down onto the mattress. Near nodded, laying down on Mello's stomach, letting the blonde's book lean on his side as he played with his plane. Matt set his hand that was around Mello's leg on the small albino's back as they all focused on the kids playing outside. No one really cared for the three; Near was too quiet, Mello was too temperamental, and Matt…. Matt was just Matt. The only other child in the orphanage who actually bothered to talk to them was Linda, but she was nice to everyone. Mello glanced at the two people at his side, a small smile on his face as he turned back to watching the kids play.
