I was feeling Christmassy and Wolfstar-y. And I'm about to start my night shift so I needed to get this out so I don't fangirl all night XD
The Chime Of A Bell
Hogwarts is bathed in utter darkness when Sirius steps out into the cold Wintry grounds on Christmas Eve. He can hear the wind whooshing and swooshing and his own heart beating fast. Boom boom boom. Thump.
"SIRIUS!"
He feels physically sick. What has he done?
Is he an idiot or something?
He runs. Runs and runs and runs. Anywhere his feet will take him.
He finds himself running downhill and he can feel tears running down his cheeks. He know Remus is somewhere behind him but in the darkness he can't see him anywhere.
He doesn't want to be found.
"SIRIUS! WHERE ARE YOU?"
Sirius's breathing is hard when he finally stops. He grasps at his left side, feeling the pain from running too fast.
He can hear footsteps approaching and he just doesn't have the energy to move. He refuses to look Remus in the eyes.
"Sirius," Remus pants, reaching him. Despite Sirius's decision to look at Remus, his eyes still find Remus's in the darkness, and Sirius's heart melts a little at those eyes.
"I'm sorry," Sirius says, thinking back to the conversation they had just had in which Sirius had admitted his feelings for Remus and then proceeded to run away.
"Don't be sorry," Remus says, and his voice sounds genuine. He sees Remus's wand light up. "I have something for you."
"What is it?" Sirius asks.
He watches Remus grin in the darkness and the light from his wand makes his features shine through. Sirius thinks that Remus is the most handsome, perfect person in the world in this moment.
Then he sees what Remus has come to show him.
Sirius's breath catches in his throat. Remus looks a little shy as he holds the mistletoe in the air above them.
"You know what this means," Remus whispers.
"It means we have to kiss," Sirius replies, heart hammering once more.
"Well," Remus breathes. "Then kiss me, you idiot."
And Sirius has never felt happier about being called an idiot. He presses his lips to Remus's and the world begins to spin and his head feels like it is full of air and he feels completely and utterly drunk on love.
Remus tosses the mistletoe and wraps his arms around Sirius, and Sirius sighs into his arms, tangling his fingers in his hair.
They break apart when they hear a bell chime from Hogwarts, and all of a sudden, like magic, it is snowing.
Sirius watches the snow and then looks at Remus whose cheeks are rosy. He is smiling.
"Merry Christmas, Remus," Sirius says, taking Remus's hand. "I love you."
Remus's smile turns into a full-out grin. "Merry Christmas. I adore you."
And then they are kissing again.
xXx
