When the phone rang, Ally thought nothing of it until she spied Elaine's devastated posture and tone through the slight open door.
"Erm yes, have you contacted his wife?" Ally heard and frowned, wishing Elaine to hurry up with the conversation. "Ok, well I'll get someone from the firm to contact her."
'Contact WHO?' Ally screamed in her head, trying to seem busy just as Elaine got off the phone and knocked on the door.

"Come in." Ally called with feigned disinterest but held a glint in her eye when she met Elaine's eyes until she saw the look of sorrow emanating from them.

"Ally, erm, you need you to go down to Georgia's office… Billy's in the err hospital." Elaine sounded more than devastated as she tried to push the words out.

"What? No he err, he just went over there… to ask her as a date to the Christmas party… this is a joke… he's not in hospital…" Ally stuttered but Elaine's dead serious face told her otherwise.
"Well he either didn't get there or was on his way back…" the blonde secretary softly spoke and Ally raised a hand to her head.

"What happened?" Ally at last asked, breaking the impression of a joke.

"He was hit by a car." Elaine shifted her gaze from Ally to the floor to disallow the woman she looked up to, to see her cry.

"I gotta tell Georgia." Ally breathed in shock as she stood up, grabbing her coat and fleeing the room, leaving a quivering assistant in her path.
