Disclaimer: I don't anything Supernatural except the DVDs. And since I got my inspiration from "Behind Those Eyes" by 3 Doors Down I have to say I don't own that either. To add another downer here, I'm not making money off this.
"Hey, everything's gonna be okay. I'll be back in time, I promise," Sam assured her. She sighed and decided to ignore her gut feeling. From the time she had first met Sam Winchester she thought he was hiding something. She thought that with time he would trust her. He assured her that he trusted her and loved her with all his heart and soul. But his eyes said there was something that he couldn't tell her. With a kiss on the cheek, he left her.
"At least tell me where you're going!" she shouted after him, not getting an answer. Her Sam could be so secretive sometimes. This was one of those times. His brother showing up randomly out of nowhere, dragging Sam to some hunting cabin to find their dad? Sam never even talked about his family to her and now he's going off to bring his dad back? The most she had ever seen him acknowledge his family was the old, faded picture of his parents that sat by their mirror.
She sat down on the bed and sighed again. She figured that she knew Sam very well. When she had started questioning him she could have sworn that she saw a bit of panic in his eyes. There was something that he wasn't telling her. She had also heard his voice get a little higher, which happened when he was nervous.
His smile was different too. A bit more forced than usual. She could see that his brother, who he hadn't seen in two year, showing up in the middle of the night, could make almost anyone uptight. But it seemed that nothing fazed her Sam. He took everything in stride. He never seemed scared. Nothing seemed to take him by surprise.
Sure, he had his little quirks but who didn't. But Sam's were a bit strange. She bit her nails, he secretly poured salt by the windows. She would tease him about it and he would joke right back. He would wipe it up only to put it back when he thought she wasn't looking. But she left it alone. She didn't want to make something out of nothing.
It seemed like her Sam and Dean's Sam were two different people. She didn't like that one bit. She was honest with Sam and she expected the same in return. But he wouldn't even tell her about his dreams. She would wake up at three in the morning to find he was no longer in bed. She would walk around and find him. He would assure her that it was just a nightmare but he would never give details. He would crack a joke and lead her back to bed.
She got back into bed but didn't fall asleep. She lay awake, thinking of Sam…
Sunday night came and went. Sam still hadn't returned. She played with a cookie that she had baked for him. She thought she heard something in their bedroom and went to investigate. She never came back out.
