Hey everyone!I just wanted to post this poem! Review!

He woke up abruptly,

From dreams that were too muddled and too dark to remember.

There was no need to get dressed;

The clothes from yesterday still hung

On shoulders slumped with exhaustion.

No breakfast, just a quick shower,

A quick sweep around the room, a quick getaway

From his one-night shelter.

Back to work, back to the road,

Back to the people and places and stories,

Some that blurred together

And others that stood out stark and clear and bright—

(that girl with the thick thick hair

and the freckles that matched her son's)

(that night the illegal fireworks danced

in his brother's laughing eyes)

(and that moment just before he left

When he thought things could change,

That maybe he could stay).

Now to the car that he knows better than any hotel room,

With his stations and his smell

And the heater that rattles when it becomes as tired as he.

The day passes:

Talking,

Selling,

Eating,

Drinking.

Then another room, another bed,

Falling onto the mattress,

Forgetting to change before dropping off

To dreams too muddled and too dark that, in the morning,

He would tell himself he could not remember.
