Love You Forever, Mum

For the first time since she was very young, the Dwarf woman stood at the front gate of Erebor. She was led to the Hall of Remembrance where she knelt for hours on end before the tombs of her elder brother, Thorin, and her beloved sons, Fili and Kili.

After crying for three hours, she was lead to her quarters. When she arrived, she stared blankly out a window thinking only of her lost loved ones. As she closed her eyes she heard a soft voice behind her. She turned to see gray flickering images of her sons standing side-by-side.

"Sorry, Mum. We tried, we really did, but there were too many. We were overwhelmed. I know I promised to keep Kili safe and to come back. I am so very sorry." Fili said. Kili gave her the crooked grin he usually used when he had done something he shouldn't have.

"We came to say good-bye. I wish I could give you a hug, but I cannot. We'll be fine now, bored at the worst, but okay. I missed you and we all love you, Mum. Do not despair, we will see each other again, and then you have eternity to scold us for dying. Thorin says he is sorry, as we all do. We have to go now. Farewell and grieve no more. Love you forever, Mum!" Kili said.

"Farewell! But we will meet again someday. I love you with all my heart." Fili said, and then they both bowed to her and faded away. As they began to melt into the shadows, a tear slid down Dis' cheek and she whispered, "Good-bye, my sons. May the wind be ever at your backs and fortune on the road before your feet."

This made me cry. I wrote it a while ago and just found it again. I hope you liked it.
