Hey! So this is the first time I've made a Zelda story on here! If you like it, let me know and I'll make more Zelda fics! This is just a short little oneshot. Enjoy!
Link was sitting under a tree in Ordon Village, gazing at a shard in his hands. Some of the village kids, Talo, Malo, Beth and Colin ran over to him.
"Hey Link!" Talo said. "What d'ya got there?"
"Oh, it's a shard from a broken mirror," Link replied, looking up.
"Why do you have it?" Beth asked. Link was silent for a bit before answering.
"Because it reminds me of a friend who is far away now," Link said, smiling softly.
"What friend?"
"Well, I met her on my adventures in Hyrule," Link continued. "We detested each other at first, but we became increasingly close after I saved her life. She helped me save Hyrule."
"What was her name?" asked Colin.
"Midna."
"Were you in love with her?" Beth asked, curiously. Link went silent. Was he in love with Midna? He knew he cared a great deal about her, but was he...in love with her? He remembered the instances where Midna's well being was all that mattered to him. He mused on it for a minute, and then replied.
"Yes, maybe I was. And maybe she loved me back? I'll never know. I'll never see her again..." Link looked sadly at the shard from the Mirror of Twilight.
"Are you so sure about that?" Malo asked.
Link remembered the last words Midna said to him. "Link, I...See you later..." Maybe she said that because she truly believed that they would meet again.
"I don't know, Malo, but she believed we would meet again, and so do I," Link decided.
Midna, he thought. I will see you again. I believe that.
What he didn't know, was that far away, in the Twilight Palace, Midna was clutching another shard of the mirror to her heart.
Link, she thought. Someday, we'll meet again, and I'll tell you how I feel. I don't know if you'll accept it, but we'll see.
And in the same moment, both of them whispered the same thing out loud.
Only time will tell.
