"I finally asked you to dance on the last slow song."

"Can you believe this?" Emily asked, her arm strong around Paige.

Paige rested her head on Emily's shoulder; before her girlfriend had spoken, she was deep in thought. She turned her head slightly, to look at her. "Believe what?"

The tips of Emily's fingers were softly and lovingly trailing up and down Paige's arm. "Can you believe where we are right now?" She paused, and let out a shaky sigh. "I never thought you'd mean this much to me." Her last words were in almost a whisper.

"I did." Paige said, without hesitation. "You've always meant everything to me. I just never thought I'd have the chance to call you mine."

"Beneath that moon, that was really a disco ball."

The two girls were by the lake; the moon's reflection on the water almost haunting, but beautiful. They had chosen to have their last day together in an amazing place.

Emily looked up at the sky, Paige's head still turned to admire her girlfriend. She kissed the side of her face softy, before following in her girlfriend's lead.

"I can still feel your head on my shoulder. And hoping this song would never be over."

"You can still come with me; get an apartment and see me everyday." Although she had said it, Paige didn't have very much hope in her voice – but she still tried.

Emily sat up slowly, and turned her body so that she was facing her girlfriend. Looking into her eyes, she softy grabbed her hands in her own and half-smiled. "Four years a part is a long time." She paused, almost seeming as though she was going to say something negative. "But, I love you. This isn't going to be the last time we see each other – Promise."

Paige could feel her eyes tearing up. Who knew what would happen in four whole years? But she wouldn't dwell on it – not tonight at least. "I'm not going to let anything ruin tonight." Her voice cracked a little, but she kept it together.

And with that, they hugged, both girls closing their eyes and living in the moment.
