Brigadier General Maes Hughes
A/N: Written after watching the clip of Maes' (epic) death and an earlier overdose of Royai videos. A very short fic.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters EXCEPT for the child...
"Brigadier General..."
"Maes Hughes. Yes."
"He's the guy on the frame? On your office?"
"Yes."
"He was brave."
"Yes."
"He's also friends with Mom?"
"And the others too, yes."
"He uses daggers?"
"Yes, daggers."
"Brigadier General..."
"Maes Hughes. Yes."
Silence. The rustle of the wind on the grassy plain filled their silence.
"Today's his birthday."
"Dad?"
"Yes?"
"You miss him, right?"
He paused for a while. Looking at her eyes, it was hard to tell a lie, even if he doest want to in the first place.
"Very much. He's my best friend."
"It's okay, Dad. You can cry. I wont look."
He smiled at her and placed a hand on her head. "I've done it."
"On that day? When he was buried?"
"Yes."
"You were with Mom? She was the only one who saw you?"
"Yes."
Another round of silence.
"Sera! Roy!"
Two heads whipped to the source of the voice. "It's about time." The voice said.
He nodded and looked at the tombstone. "See ya." He said then took the child's hand in his.
"Happy Birthday, Uncle Maes!"
