Akabayshi Mark One
Author's Note:
This series was started as a result of the You Look Good in Red challenge on .creative in December of 2007. As this series covers through multiple series, I have decided not to combine all of the Akabayshi shorts into one story.
As Ensign Kanma Akabayshi stood waiting to beam down to the planet Instadeath, he took a moment to curse the Academy Advisor who had set him on the path to being what he was now.
Akabayshi had grown up in San Francisco, the son of a restaurant owner. He had spent most of his life looking out his window, seeing the shuttles carrying new Captains off to their commands. He'd watched the cadets parade in formation for graduation. He'd heard stories from the many cadets and officers which frequented his father's restaurant about many adventures among the stars.
There was one thing that everyone had warned about, though. One thing you wanted to avoid at all costs, the dreaded Security red shirt. If you wore that red, and were assigned to beam down with the Captain, you were doomed, all accounts agreed on that point.
So, as he stood on the transporter, and watched Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, and Doctor McCoy take their places in front of him, he cursed that Academy Advisor once again. That Advisor that had made that mark next to his name that forever locked him into this course. Just a small mark next to his name.
Kanma Akabayshi so hated the person that said to him, "You look good in red."
His hatred was dead within minutes of beaming down.
