Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. Hell, I don't even own the different colours of bravery. I do own the idea for the Last Stand series, of which this is the first. There are currently no others, though I plan on writing some.

Multi-Coloured Bravery

Nymphadora Tonks knew that there were many different colours of bravery.

Sometimes, her bravery was the colour of blue, and she'd be calm and logical and intelligent. Instead of stopping a fight by stepping in, she'd get a teacher. She'd do what she felt was right, but she wouldn't be stupid about it.

Often, her bravery was the colour yellow, where, sometimes doing things wasn't required. All she would do was declare her allegiance, and stand by it come what may, because she knew it was the right thing to do. She'd side with Harry and Professor Dumbledore against the Ministry, because the Ministry was more concerned with becoming more powerful than helping the powerless.

Occasionally, her bravery was green, and instead of rushing into situations like an idiot, she'd check her facts and prepare her group, and she'd leave someone behind if it meant getting the rest of the group back intact. She'd lie and blackmail to get what she wanted, because what she wanted was to save lives.

But now, her house was surrounded by Death Eaters, and there was no escape that she could see—and anyway, there were some people out there who needed to be taken down. And now, she didn't need bravery that was green or yellow or blue.

Taking a deep breath, she summoned up her red bravery, the kind of bravery where her heart was beating a tattoo in her throat, and her stomach was in knots, and she was terrified—but she went on anyways, because the only other option was surrender, and that was no option at all.

With her wand in her hand, and her red bravery in her heart, she went out to meet the Death Eaters, and see how many she could take with her.
