The first thing Maes Hughes did once he arrived in heaven was check on his family. He watched his wife Gracia and his precious daughter Elicia as they learned of his death, and stood by their side at his own funeral. He went to the train station to see if Ed, Al, and Winry were doing okay, and when Roy Mustang drank his sorrows away that night, Hughes made sure to lead Black Hayate and his owner to the bar where his best friend was passed out.
The second thing Maes Hughes did once he was certain his family was going to be all right was hunt down a little girl named Nina. He told her that her big brothers Ed and Al had sent him. He told her that his job was to make sure she and Alexander had someone to play with. He played hide and seek with her among the clouds and chased her down the golden streets. It wasn't long before Nina had forgotten what her own father had done to her, and soon began telling everyone that Hughes was her daddy.
The third thing Maes Hughes did once he got to heaven was create a new photo album, which he then began showing every single angel in heaven so that they knew exactly how adorable both of his daughters were.
