Blaise Zabini was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, there was no doubt about that. But he was not happy about it, and he wasn't going to pretend otherwise.
He would not be seeing his friends and family in Italy until Easter now, and he hadn't gotten permission to bring his girlfriend Lina Palladino to Hogwarts for the interschool ball. But he had his suit talor made and was not going to let that go to waste.

Tracey Davis was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, there was no doubt about that. But the Christmas Spirit left her with five days to go before the big event.
Corinne Meliflua, Head Girl and Slytherin student, had passed a message from Snape that it would be unwise to go to the Ball with Millicent. Dumbledore didn't want them to cause a stir with the visiting Ministry Officials or International Dignitaries, not to mention steal the spotlight from the Champions.

Theodore Nott was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, there was no doubt about that. His suit was properly laundered and he even styled his hair.
He had a date to the Ball, a Beauxbatons girl with eyes of silver and hair the colour of midnight. Édith Proulx had been examining a tree in a courtyard, looking for fairies apparently, when he'd asked her and she'd given a shy nod.

Millicent Bulstrode was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas, there was no doubt about that. For once it was she who held the positive attitude and comforted an angry and upset Tracey.
Millicent came up with a beautiful idea, and Blaise happily obliged. He walked into the hall that night with his head held high, and Tracey and Millicent each holding his arm. They danced the night away as though this was their original plan, and Theo joined them after it became apparent Édith understood little English and was at the Ball with a Beauxbatons boy.
