It started with her and ended with him. : oneshot : Broken Amy&Ian.
Beginning and Ending
He smiles at me. / Just one more hour with her.
I smile back. / Get on with it.
He takes my hand. / Sweaty palms, guilty heart.
"What will we do today?" / Depends on when you'll leave again.
My heart stings from the look in his eyes. / "Whatever you'd like to do."
What happened to us? / Was there ever an us?
"Let's take a walk." / She must be getting bored, but things will be over soon enough.
His hold on my hand loosens. / "Sure."
We walk. / I wonder if I could run now.
"How was work?" / I'm surprised she's still here.
I watch as he looks away. / "Good."
"My work's good, too." / I'm sure it is with him there all of the time.
He lets go of my hand. / We should stop playing games now.
"What's wrong?" / You, I think.
I try to catch even the smallest hint of emotion on him. / I know what she's looking for and I won't give it to her.
"Ian..." / Don't say my name - you don't deserve to.
I feel the gap between us widening. / "What?"
"Tell me what's wrong." / If I did, she'd deny it.
The seconds tick by, and I know our time is coming to an end. / "Let's break up."
My heart breaks as I hear his words and I nod numbly. / I don't want to look at her - what's the point?
"I... okay. We can't last forever, after all." / At least she knows one truth.
I want him to look at me just one last time. / I should start walking now.
"Ian... just know that I still love you." / That's a lie and she knows it - if she still loves me, why won't she fight?
His face is stoic when he turns to look at me, and it sends chills down my spine. / "Don't bother, Amy. We're already done."
His words scar and I can only stare. / Her eyes no longer have the same effect on me, and I deem this a good thing.
"So this goodbye..." / I can only smile.
I didn't want to let go. / It took us long enough.
I'll always love him. / I never liked her.
I wonder if he'll miss me. / It won't be long until all is forgotten.
"I'm sorry." / Because forgetting is better than forgiving.
Would you love me still if I told you the truth? / You don't know the truth.
a/n: This is obviously alternating POVs, the first is Amy's, the second Ian's. I'll explain this one (since I haven't been explaining lately). Okey-dokey, so this is all in one scene. Okay, so first of all, as to how this is broken - they weren't originally broken. In this, I am trying to say that Amy... well, she falls out of love with Ian. I know it seems like it's one-sided on Amy's behalf, but it's actually the other way around. I'll let you find the proof as to how this is, but yeah, that's about it for this fic. Yay! [I don't know why I wrote them broken, but I think Evan might be the reason. GR. I do not ship Evan/Amy. Period. I'm sorry to those who do, but I just can't switch shippings like that.] Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed, for I truly did enjoy writing this.
