Hide and Seek
America glanced around, making sure no one was trying to sneak past him in plain sight, as he walked down the halls. Why did he always have to be 'it' when they played this game? He glanced around again, not really seeing anything, lost in thought. That's right. The Axis and Allies were playing hide and go seek at the world meeting, instead of doing what they were supposed to. He sighed and left one of the many meeting rooms he had been searching that adorned this building. They played this game only when he, America, was hosting the meetings. And apparently the host was always 'it', at least on the first round. America sighs rather loudly as he enters into the library. He almost always forgets to check this room, but for once he gets to it right away. It's a well known fact that, if a room is left alone long enough, people tend to hide in it more often than not.
First Found, Next 'It'
That's the rule.
England held his breath as the door to the library, where he was hiding, was opened. That was quick! Still, why Italy always insisted they play this game at America's house every meeting was beyond him, but everyone knows better than to disagree him and have to deal with the angry blonde that sits right next to the ditzy Italian. 'I swear Italy has assigned a game to every nation!' England thought, as he fought to keep silent. However, his game happened to be duck-duck-goose, so he was okay with this game most of the time. He resisted the urge to sigh. Then, England silently angled his head to try to hear better in front of him and crouched as silently as possible, keeping on the balls of his feet. He was hiding in between some of the farthest bookshelves from the door, and this library was ridiculously huge anyways! After a few, rather stressful, minutes the door to the library shut and all was still. England let out a quiet sigh of relief. If Italy decided to call another round of this silly game, he sure didn't want to be the one called 'it'.
Suddenly, a hand grasped his shoulder and the voice that came with it caught him off guard, "Looks like you're going to be 'It' next round, England."
America could almost laugh at how that trick always worked! You glance around the room for a few minutes after answering the door; never looking very hard, as if you believe no one is there. Lulling them into a false sense of security. Then you go and shut the door and stand very still, slightly out of view of the door. Hang around for a couple more minutes. No sound in that time? Most likely there aren't any people in that room and you can really leave.
And this time, he got lucky, because as he shut the door, he almost automatically heard a very quiet sigh of relief. He grinned and silently went over to where he heard the sound. Surprise⦠there was England with his back to America. The latter clapped his hand onto the older nation's shoulder and told him he was the next 'It'.
The reaction he got, was not an expected one.
England jumped and fell over backwards in surprise, knocking over the speaker in the process.
"Holy Bloody Hell!" he snapped, turning towards America, who, somehow, he was now accidentally sitting on. He got up as quickly as he could and then added, "You shouldn't sneak up on people like that!"
"That's the point of the game!" America replied, frowning. They glared at each other for a short while before America sighed again and said, "Whatever, you still lost this round. Come help me find the rest of them."
England had half a mind to tell the younger, rasher, nation to screw off and do it alone, but decided against it.
They'd all have to play this silly game again anyways, so what's one more round?
