Tyr/Beka

Intro is same as in ep: "Dinner in one hour on Obs. Deck" or whatever Tyr said. Couldn't dig up the scene, sorry.

The dilly-o: All things are the same as in FP until Beka says "Looks like we might a shipboard romance going on here" or whatever. Music is playing throughout the story.

"No, Dylan and Rommie." Beka saved Tyr the embarrassment.

"Oh," said Tyr. "Well, I suppose their relationship is good, as it should be. They care for one another as they ought, but I don't think it qualifies as humans' 'love' yet."

Beka nods. After an awkward minute of silence, she says, "Why Enya?"

"I knew you like it, since you often play it when you aren't busy. And I particularly like A Day Without Rain. It's very calming."

The two quickly finish their meal. The song ends presently, and a waltz begins. Tyr rises and walks over to Beka.

"May I have this dance?" he asks, offering his hand to Beka.

"Of course." She rises

And they dance.

*~*

Most of the room is open space; Tyr and Beka dance freely. They never break eye contact, both treasuring the moment.

The song comes to a close; arm in arm, Tyr leads Beka to the giant window as Shania Twain's 'From This Moment On" begins. They look out to the stars, constellations. Silently they stand there for a minute. Tyr rubs* his hand over Beka's arm, then grabs her hand. After another moment, they turn to face each other.

Tyr raises his free hand to caress Beka's cheek. Beka's blue eyes gazed up at his deep brown ones. Both smiled, then a look of sadness came over Tyr's face. He turned away; the same look now occupied Beka's face.

"Dylan and Trance should be back soon," said Tyr. "I'll clean up."

"I'll help you." Tyr looked at Beka. "Hey, I ate too, remember? Besides, I have nothing better to do."

At his point Elton John began his slow humming. "Man, you've got some playlist! Good songs, Tyr."

"It seems great minds do think alike," Tyr responded.

They finished and walked together until they came to the point where they parted paths. Both paused, and their eyes met for the last time that night. A sweet moment passed, and when it had almost finished Beka said softly with much emotion in her eyes: "Thank you, Tyr." He smiled at her for a second, then each went their separate ways.
