He found himself here again, looking at the vast ocean before him. This was what he wanted and all he wished to have. He wanted this more than anything. He didn't want his fake friends back home and he didn't really want the fame and fortune that he was recognized for either. All he simply wanted was power.
He found himself looking into the black water. It was as black and as lonely as he felt. He wanted control and power, he had found it here. He smiled wickedly as his plan came into motion. He knew just what to do. He had welcomed the darkness and used it to his advantage. He had enslaved the creatures of the land and made it so they followed his every command. He was invincible and he liked how that felt.
They came into his territory; they were getting closer to finding him. They were going to destroy his perfect world. So he came up with a plan and again it would not fail. The rings made of darkness were worn by the creatures, the rings held them against their will. They were his to command and he liked it that way. The power was great and the order of his new world was getting better. The ocean of darkness had been his beginning.
Now looking back at what he had done left a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. He had helped evil and it had almost prevailed. There were still the dark towers that reminded him of that time when he was in control. He had harmed the people that were now his friends. He had never felt like this before. Actually he had felt worse, he remembered now, how could he forget? His best friend had died right in his hands because of his mistake. He instantly remembered the pain. It hurt so much even now, to know that he had been so cruel. But he knew that the ocean had called to him. He knew now how easily human emotions could be used to manipulate them into doing unimaginable things. He had been a victim and a pawn. He stood there looking out at the sea of blackness and thought back to the time when he had almost lost himself.
He had just returned to the real world, the place in which he was recognized by many but where he felt the most immense loneliness. He refused to wake up even after he heard the voices of his parents. "I have to find my heart." He said and he would do just that. In his mind lingered thoughts of his better life the one he had had before Sam died. Sam, his older brother, was always with him he showed him many things he felt that their connection was strong. That all changed after he got jealous of Sam. One day he even wished Sam would just disappear.
Ever since then he blamed himself for the accident that had caused Sam's death. He then felt obligated to live the life Sam had started. His parents were happy but Ken never truly was. The only thing that brought him joy was playing soccer. He remembered what his best friend, and partner Wormmon had said about him having a kind heart. That had awoken his will to go on Ken remembered that day when he had finally conquered the darkness in his heart and changed the way he felt.
He took one final look into the dark water that lay out before him. Just looking at it made him tremble, wether it was from fear he did not truly know. But he knew that even now after all this time the ocean still seemed menacing and demanding as if tempting him to return. He no longer saw power within the black liquid. He now saw despair and hatred. He looked deep within and saw nothing but loneliness and pain. He finally felt relieved and at peace. The painful memories would no longer haunt him. He knew now that he could not change the past but he did not have to hide who he was. Even though he had made mistakes he knew who he truly was.
He was Ken Ichijouji ; nothing more nothing less.
