"Allelujah! Look up at the sky!" Marie pointed above with a dazzled look in her eyes. "Blue is such a pretty color!"
Allelujah smiled. "Yes, it really is." The gentle wind blew through the vast, grassy field full of flowers. The brilliant sun shined down on the two children and Marie laid on the soft grass. The boy called Allelujah followed suit and both gazed at the pure, white, puffy clouds.
"Look, it's a shape of a flower." Allelujah pointed out for the eager Marie.
"It's true! And there's a shape of a dog!" Marie said excitedly.
"And right over there is a heart." Allelujah said.
Marie seemed to stare at it for a moment. She sat up and looked at Allelujah. "Say, what does a heart mean?"
Slightly surprised at the sudden question, Allelujah replied with a tiny blush, "It represents love... I guess."
"Oh..." Marie noticed Allelujah turn pink and caused her to blush as well.
Allelujah picked a flower the color of the skies and offered it to Marie. "I'm glad I can be here with you right now." He said and fondly smiled at Marie, turning bright red.
"It's pretty..." Marie said as she accepted the flower. "I'm glad I can be here with you too! We'll always be together, right?"
"Right!" And the both of them were happy.
--
"That's the dream I had last night!" Allelujah cheerfully said to the seemingly lifeless girl lying in front of him.
"It must have been so wonderful!" Marie replied through the quantum brainwaves.
"It was. And someday, I promise I'll take you outside, just like in my dream!" Allelujah exclaimed as he leaned in closer.
"You really will? It's a promise then! Thank you, Allelujah."
Allelujah grinned.
--
"C'mon! Allelujah, hurry up! They'll catch us!" Allelujah's comrades yelled as they ran full speed across the halls of the institute with Allelujah following not far off.
As they fought their way ahead, Allelujah was thinking of Marie, and of whether he should bring her with them or not. He was feeling pressured and confused.
Throughout their quest for escape, Allelujah had a pained look on his face. They were passing the room where Marie was, and she was crying.
"Allelujah!"
He wanted to cry, but couldn't. Allelujah stopped for a moment in the doorway. He forced his legs to disappear into the narrow hallway.
"I'm sorry..."
--
"Allelujah?" Marie saw Allelujah staring at space from where they sat onboard Ptolemy.
He seemed to snap out of it. "Oh. Sorry." Allelujah said, a bit embarrased.
Marie shook her head. "What are you thinking about?"
"...A lot of things." Allelujah replied with a reassuring smile.
They held hands and Marie rested her head on Allelujah's shoulder.
